While he is better known as the entrepreneur who transformed the hospitality and leisure milieu in Bali, Jakarta native Ronald Akili has always believed in the power of good and sustainable design.

Back in 2007, he assembled a stellar roster of Indonesia's brightest architects to design 20 distinct houses, each staying true to its architect's style yet conforming to a common theme – a self-sustaining, eco-friendly community.

Fast forward 15 years, he has now teamed up with Dutch practice OMA to advocate zero-waste in his purpose-driven hotel and creative community – the Desa Potato Head Bali. An exhibition showcasing these efforts through in-depth research is now on display at the National Design Centre as part of the ongoing Singapore Design Week.
