Happy birthday to our Vilangu hero and reigning Pradhana Vizha Best Actor, Rajesh Kannan! A long overdue congratulatory message for a very, very long overdue award.
Many, including us, were surprised and even shocked that this was RK Annae’s first PV award, given his exceptional talent, dedication and years of experience. For many of us, this man was a core memory of our childhood, having been a lead actor in so many television dramas throughout the late 80’s, 90’s and even 2000’s. Nonetheless, VIP Media Productions is elated that this long elusive treasure has finally found its way to this much worthy thespian, through our production.
Overdue, yes, but extremely well-deserved award. The fact that RK deserves it for his talent and effort is a known fact. But the sheer dedication and heart that he put into this character of Thiyaagaa and his performance is something else altogether.
RK Annae, knowing how selective you are about your roles and who you work with, it’s our honour and privilege that you said ‘Yes’ to play our Thiyaagaraajan Mohanadhass. Especially, given the sensitive nature of the character and the kind of uncomfortable/humiliating scenes written for the role.
Not everyone, especially popular stars and veteran actors, would have been willing to shed their image and play the role of a rapist/sex offender on national television. But RK chose to look at the scope to perform and took up the role. (After dutifully consulting his teen sons and getting their approval to play such a role, being the responsible Dad he is).
From there, he performed every scene with all his heart, no matter how uneasy or distressing it got… From sleeping on public toilet floors to getting slipper shots on the face to being physically abused by a bunch of men in prison to cleaning school toilets and so much more. He took it all in his stride and completed every scene without flinching, being the true professional as always.
Thank you RK Annae, for being our Thiyaagaa Sir and for clinching us the Pradhana Vizha 2025 Best Actor award. Here’s wishing you good health, happiness, peace and many more memorable performances and awards ahead! Happy Birthday, Legend! 👏👏👏
