Singapore’s largest banks - DBS, OCBC and UOB -are shifting from margin-driven profits to growth anchored in wealth, regional connectivity and sustainable finance. This integrated model is designed to build resilience across market cycles as net interest margins narrow.

🔹 Wealth management is now a core driver, with DBS, OCBC and UOB all reporting strong inflows, higher assets under management and rising fee income.
🔹 Regional connectivity is deepening through expanded ASEAN and Greater China networks, boosting deposits, treasury mandates and cross-border flows.
🔹 Sustainable finance is scaling fast, with ESG-linked loans, investments and advisory mandates embedded into core client solutions

Strong capital ratios, low non-performing loan levels and accelerated digital adoption are supporting this shift, ensuring banks remain resilient while capturing new opportunities

Open Dialogue Session: How fintechs are reshaping SME lending

📅 Tuesday, 19 August 2025

🕘 4:00 PM Beijing/Singapore│3 PM Jakarta│12:00 PM Dubai│10:00 AM CET

The Future Banking Working Group (FBWG) invites you to our upcoming Open Dialogue Session: "How fintechs are reshaping SME lending", where we will explore the structural barriers for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in accessing credit, navigating digital payments, and scaling across platforms and borders. As regulatory expectations rise and technology reshapes financial delivery, banks have opportunities to enhance how they serve this high-potential segment.

Kelvin Teo is the co-founder and Group CEO of Funding Societies | Modalku Group, and a recognised leader in digital finance. In this open dialogue session, he will share insights from scaling a pan-regional digital lender focused on SMEs. He will reflect on how private credit and platform-based models are reshaping the traditional role of banks as credit intermediaries, and how financial institutions can respond through partnerships that preserve compliance while scaling client reach.

In this session, Kelvin will share his views on:

🔹The macroeconomic importance of SME finance and the evolving expectations of SME clients across the credit lifecycle

🔹How banks and fintechs are rethinking credit models through data, embedded finance, and alternative funding sources

🔹What it takes to build scalable, compliant SME lending infrastructure through technology, regulation, and partnerships
