I was surprised to see that Asador’s lunch tasting menu was just $38++! 👀
I’ve dined at this Spanish restaurant in Joo Chiat before & enjoyed their wood-fired dishes & ambience - BUT this lunch deal seemed too good to be true! 🤯
So I tucked into this multi-course meal with my bestie to find out if it was worth it! to see what dishes we had & the full lunch tasting menu options!
✨ ASADOR LUNCH TASTING MENU ($38++/pax) ✨
👨🏻🍳 Chef’s choice of picoteo - a curated selection of bites
🐟 Anchoas (Anchovies Spread on Toast) ~ At first sight, it looks like it’d be really salty, but turns out, it was just right! Love the crisp & flavourful fish with each bite.
🧈 Zamburiñas (Grilled Baby Scallop with Kombu Butter) ~ Tender scallop drenched with savoury kombu butter balanced with a hit of tanginess. 1 piece wasn’t enough!
🦪 Ostra (Japanese oysters with Namjim Sauce) ~ Palate awakening! Tangy & oh-so-appetising!
🐙 Pulpo (Chargrilled Octopus with Potato Pavé) ~ Had this the last time & chargrilled octopus is always a must-order at a Spanish restaurant. Yums!
🥩 Entrecot (200g grilled striploin) ~ Went with medium well & meat was tender, juicy along with some fat. Delicious!
*Add $5 to enjoy the Dessert of the Day & Coffee/Tea ~ Rounded up with Basque Cheesecake (but I’m not a big fan of cheesecake so...) hehe we still polished every morsel!
🌟 Our overall verdict? 🌟
We could tell that details mattered to the chefs - from the thoughtful ingredient pairings & how the flavours came together, right down to the plating. Was the lunch tasting portions smaller than the ala carte menu? Nope. Plus, quality was good! Seriously at $38++, was wondering how they make the numbers work 🙈
P/S: We dined on a weekday & it was bustling with diners! Great that they’ve also earned fans over the last 5 years in Singapore! 💪
SO! Would you rather spend $38++ on one good main course, or a multi-course tasting menu like this? 🤤
