City Nomads

City Nomads The insider guide to better living. First launched in May 2012, we started out as a humble information provider for F&B events in Singapore.

Designed for folks who are curious about the world and share an appreciation for the good things in life, City Nomads is on a passionate quest to seek out the less well-trodden path in discovering the best that urban culture has to offer. The City Nomads today is a natural evolution from listings and the occasional opinion piece, to one of Singapore’s most-trusted sources of what’s happening in th

e city. In June 2016, we launched City Nomads in Bali, and are aiming to achieve significant market pe*******on in 2017. In the next five years, we’re looking to expand to more cities in Southeast Asia, in particular Bangkok, Manila, and Ho Chi Minh City. Besides these focused city guides, we will also be pursuing an editorial strategy with more international travel content.

P. Ramlee's music is back at WILD RICE this August, reimagined as a three-movement orchestral suite. Julian Wong's arranged the classics, a 30-member orchestra performs them live, and the whole thing's framed as a conversation with P. Ramlee himself. It's at The Ngee Ann Kongsi Theatre from 13 to 30 August. If you grew up hearing these songs at home, this might be the first time you hear them like this. Which P. Ramlee track do you think works best with a full orchestra?

Tunggu Sekejap: The P. Ramlee Suite returns to Wild Rice this August, reworking P. Ramlee's music into a three-movement orchestral tribute

Ever wondered what it'd take to start learning Bharatanatyam or Carnatic music from scratch? SIFAS is answering that question directly this July. Their annual Open House lands on 18 and 19 July at the Society's brand new Middle Road campus, and it's built for beginners as much as anyone else. Expect introductory sessions across dance, music and visual arts, live performances each evening, and enough variety that you can just wander and see what clicks.

New registrants walk away with a S$100 fee waiver and a goodie bag, and there's a lucky draw each evening too.

It's free to attend, but you'll need to register ahead.
