As the first country within the Klett Group in Europe to adopt the Singapore Mathematics approach, Slovakia marks an exciting milestone in bringing high-quality mathematics education to more classrooms.

We are especially proud that our Chief Editor, Andrea Kang, was invited to speak on “Singapore: The Economic Miracle and Its Story of Mathematics Education”, sharing insights on the evolving role of educators in developing mathematical thinking.

What can teachers do to transform mathematics learning?
At a recent session in Puerto Montt (24 May 2026), three simple but powerful classroom practices were shared:�• Exploration through a problem�• Discussing students’ methods�• Mathematics journal writing
These approaches are grounded in learning theories and research, yet practical for everyday teaching. While often associated with the “Singapore method”, this problem-solving approach is, in truth, universal.
The session sparked lively discussion—from sustainability of implementation to its use in secondary schools. A key takeaway: meaningful change requires direction, push, and support.
One example shared was exploring the sum of interior angles of polygons using hands-on cut-outs—bringing mathematical thinking to life in the classroom.
