Excited to add Peru to the growing list of countries where I share mathematics education!

Over four packed days, Dr Yeap Ban Har will be giving talks, visiting schools, and engaging with hundreds of passionate educators—from the Ministry of Education to classroom teachers.

💡 Highlights:
• Dr Yeap is honoured to become an Honorary Member of APINEMA, Peru’s mathematics education association.
• Sharing ideas with over 150 school leaders and 400 teachers from the Innova Schools network.
• School visits, award ceremonies, and rich discussions on fractions, problem solving, and teaching strategies.
• Special thanks to schools using Pensaci! – the Spanish adaptation of our think! Mathematics series – for sharing their success stories.

This meaningful series of events is made possible by LIBUT Education Solutions Peru, Shing Lee Publishers Singapore, and long-time collaborator Monica Miyagui.

Dinner with APINEMA - Association for Research in Mathematics Education of Peru. Thank you APINEMA for making me an Honorary Member of the association. I gave a lecture at their online conference earlier in 2025.

0900-1200 School visits at Innova Schools
1600-2000 Teaching of Fractions and Decimals course for about 150 principals and teachers using Piensa Infinito
Also two schools will share their experience in using the textbook series which is a Spanish adaptation of think! Mathematics.
And there will be an award ceremony for schools that have done well using the textbook series.
This will be held at Melia Hotel.
2000 Dinner with school leaders and principals

21 October
0900-1200 School visits at Colegio Maria Reina Marianista and St Patrick’s School
1600-1930 Using Heuristics to Solve Challenging Problems in Mathematics to about 400 teachers from Innova Schools where 63 schools in this collection of schools have been using Piensa Infinito.
This will be held at UTP University.
2000 Dinner with leadership team of Innova Scholls

22 October
1000-1200 Meeting with Director General of Basic Education and Directors at Ministry of Education Peru. Also a roundtable discussion with about 20 mathematics education specialists at the MOE.
1600-1800 A course for public school teachers at Regional Directorate of Education of Metropolitan Lima – DRELM

It is a packed schedule but I am looking forward to this series of events organised by LIBUT Education Solutions Peru in collaboration with Shing Lee Publishers Singapore and a fellow mathematics educators Monica Miyagui whom I met years ago when we were fellow specialists at APEC Lesson Study Group.
