Requiem (Rashid/John Lucius Jenkins)

A Posthuman whose powers only manifested after reverting to Islam, Requiem has set himself on a journey of constant repentance, always fearing that his past sins could come back to haunt him.

Requiem is a man of few words. He rarely speaks unless spoken to, and even then, his words are direct and concise. This is due to his practice of constantly performing zikr (remembrance of Allah) – a practice he easily adopted after reverting to Islam, as he was also a devout Catholic.

Requiem usually appears calm and collected. This is a side effect of his religious practices and his consistency in emulating the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w.). This calm and collected exterior is also present when he is in the midst of battle, making him appear as if he has every fight under control.

However, there are still things that are able to rattle him – mention of his late wife and late daughter, and his hometown of Salem.

Requiem also consciously makes an effort not to lose control of himself for fear of transgressing as he once did.

Fría (Det. Sgt. Isabel Cortez Escudero)

An enforcer of the law during the day, Fría moonlights at night as an enforcer for the Posthuman community that she is secretly a part of, while seeking her little brother who has been missing since young.

Many who meet Fría would not get a sense that she has a troubled past, since she constantly puts up a welcoming and pleasant persona during her day-to-day affairs. However, being the eldest of three siblings, and daughter to immigrant parents who were deported, she has witnessed and experienced some trying and traumatic times.

Fría has had to condition herself to always put up a brave and happy front for the sake of her siblings, while carrying the weight of the world on her shoulders.

She is very involved in activism and social issues, especially those that concern Muslims and Posthumans.

A natural and compassionate leader, Fría goes out of her way to ensure the safety and comfort of others, and mostly, at her own expense. Though at times she can come off as critical and stern, she is her own biggest critic when things go wrong.

An idealist and a patriot through and through, Hassan's loyalty is legendary and almost incomparable, as he is known to fight for what is right in the name of his religion, his people and his homeland.

As a man who looks up to classic Malay heroes like Hang Tuah, Mat Kilau and Adnan Saidi, Hassan believes in and lives by ideals such as honour, respect and courage.

Ever since he was little, he has always dreamed of becoming a legendary Malay hero – specifically one who fights for the sake of the people. Because of this dream, Hassan makes a point to excel in whatever he does, be it academics, physical training and even Islamic Studies.

Though he may seem protective of his people, at the same time, Hassan is very critical of their bad practices, habits and attitudes. Hassan always wants the best for his people, and this means that he wants them to work hard to be the best.

His mentality and stern approach may not be popular amongst his people at times, but Hassan holds firmly to his principles, regardless.

Shade (Khalid)

An Immortal who is very aware of his sinful past, Shade prefers not to engage in other worldly affairs, and only helping the truly vulnerable as part of his focus to right his many wrongs.

Having walked the Earth for many centuries, Shade has virtually seen and done it all. Due to his vast experience, he usually appears disinterested in other people’s business and worldly affairs.

However, there is another layer to his apparent aloofness – Shade is laser-focused on righting his many wrongs. Despite being an Immortal, it was only in the past few decades that Shade truly understands that his time is still limited, and he wants to maximise whatever time he has left by only doing deeds that matter.

Unfortunately, this self-imposed pressure has taken a toll on him, pushing him to the usage of vices that help to numb his pain.

Deep down, Shade knows that he is lost and trapped in a vicious cycle, and has been seeking proper guidance from someone who can truly understand his level of brokenness.

Scar (Muhammad Nasir Abdul Yusuf)

Also known as “Death’s Messenger”, Scar's regrettable reputation as one of the deadliest assassins in the world precedes him, though he has abstained from killing since retiring from that profession.

To those who are not familiar with him, Scar seems aloof and uncaring. However, those who have known him for some time can easily testify that Scar is one of the most compassionate and empathic individuals they have ever come across.

He particularly has a soft spot for orphans, having grown up as one himself in a very harsh and volatile environment.

Only his close friends are lucky enough to see his rare playful and more energetic side. One might mistake him as a textbook introvert, though to a certain degree, he is. However, it is more accurate to say that Scar controls his emotions and thoughts with much effort.

Underneath his nonchalant exterior lies an unstable mess of rage, guilt, fear and self-loathing, in addition to his broken psyche that could very well contain a hideous and primal dark side that constantly wants to take over.
