Backbeat Studios

Backbeat Studios Backbeat Studios Backbeat Studios is a recording studio that is growing bigger and better in terms of both vision and reality. Acoustic control.

In 2007, Backbeat underwent a major renovation with the main focus of optimizing the acoustics and vibes of the studio, in order to maximise the music and recording experience of musicians and clients who have been coming back regularly to Backbeat. Design of acoustic space is a huge science. The dimensions and acoustics tracking and control room were carefully calculated with the help of experien

ced audio engineer Frank Lee to control their reverb (decay times) and frequency responses. Musicians and artistes who have been back at Backbeat regularly appreciate how nice the rooms sound on its own. Well, actually, Backbeat also looks good on its own which probably helps in generating good vibes for musical creativity (check out the pictures). The secret of the nice Backbeat sound? The wall panels and ceiling panels are positioned and angled for sound absorption purposes to make the room sound bigger and better. Yes, bigger and better backbeat. For what your creativity deserves.

🎧 Produced in Singapore, heard in Korea.

The National Museum of Korea recently launched Art of Early Joseon: Masterpieces from the 15th and 16th Centuries—a major exhibition showcasing 400 historical artworks, including National Treasures and rarely seen pieces from overseas collections.

We had the opportunity to support the exhibition by producing the English kids' audioguide, working with two Korean teenage voice talents based here in Singapore.

The aim was to make the experience more engaging for younger visitors—without dumbing it down. Just clear storytelling, thoughtful pacing, and the kind of voice that feels familiar to a young listener.

Always a privilege to contribute to cultural projects like these — across borders.

Don’t miss it if you’re in Seoul this summer!

🗓 Exhibition runs until August 31, 2025

🎙️ Soundproofing vs. Sound Treatment – What’s the Difference? 🎙️

If you’re setting up a home recording studio, you’ve probably come across foam panels and thought, Great! I’m soundproofing my space! But here’s the catch—those panels aren’t soundproofing, they’re sound treatment. And the difference is huge!

🔇 Soundproofing blocks sound from getting in or out. It requires mass, density, and isolation—which means building thick walls, floors, and ceilings. It’s expensive and takes up space.

🎛️ Sound treatment improves the acoustics inside the room. It helps reduce echo and makes recordings clearer, but it won’t stop external noises like traffic, barking dogs, or airplanes✈️.

Many home studios focus on sound treatment because it’s easier and more affordable. But if you truly need soundproofing, be prepared for a bigger investment.
