Say hi to freshman Nervin Siew Ming Han ๐Ÿค–โšก๏ธโœจ

From a mechatronics background, Nervin has dabbled in both mechanical and electrical engineering โ€” and discovered a fascination for how technology can make systems smarter and more efficient. That passion led him to , where he hopes to turn ideas into real innovation. ๐Ÿ”งโš™๏ธ

Nervinโ€™s journey hasnโ€™t been easy. From ITE โ†’ polytechnic โ†’ one of the worldโ€™s top universities, every step has built his resilience. He believes itโ€™s not about rushing to the finish line, but about staying persistent and believing in yourself. ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿš€

One quote he lives by: โ€œChallenges make life interesting; overcoming them makes life meaningful.โ€ ๐ŸŒŸ

โ€œI believe offers the perfect environment to grow into the engineer I aspire to be!โ€ Nervin shares. ๐ŸŽ“๐Ÿ”Œ

We were pleased to welcome delegates from the University of New South Wales UNSW in October. They visited to learn more about undergraduate and postgraduate programmes as part of their benchmarking efforts.

Their visit is aligned with UNSWโ€™s initiative to refresh and enhance their engineering curriculum, with NTU serving as one of their key reference points.

The delegates also had an engaging networking session with our faculty and visited the Satellite Research Centre and the Robotics & Smart Automation Innovation Hub, where many meaningful discussions and ideas were exchanged.

has been ranked ๐Ÿฅ‡1st in Singapore, ๐Ÿฅ‡1st in Asia, and ๐ŸŒŽ5th in the world in the latest ๐ŸŒŸTimes Higher Education Interdisciplinary Science Rankings. Jumping several spots from the 9th place last year, NTU is the only from ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ฌ Singapore and Asia in the ๐ŸŒ global top five.

NTU Deputy President and Provost Prof Christian Wolfrum said: โ€œNTUโ€™s placement in the top five of the Times Higher Education Interdisciplinary Science Rankings is a recognition of how far we have come in and . NTU has long recognised that to tackle the toughest challenges in our society and the world, the solutions are found between disciplines and rarely fall within one discipline. Being interdisciplinary is at the heart of this university as we break down walls between disciplines, not just in research but also in education.โ€

We had such a wonderful time at the 3rd Alumni TechTalk held last month at NTU@OneNorth!

Our Outstanding Alumni 2024, Mr Low Jin Phang, President of Digital Systems at ST Engineering, joined us to share his views on the latest trends in 5G technologies. It was an eye-opening and engaging session for everyone.

More than just the talk, it was a lovely opportunity to reconnect with familiar faces and meet new ones. Gatherings like this remind us how warm and supportive the community is โ€” always learning and growing together.

๐ŸŽ‰ Celebrating Excellence on the Global Stage! ๐ŸŒโœจ

Weโ€™re incredibly proud of our two outstanding students, Jordan Teo and Akshat Singh, for shining brightly at the The Global Undergraduate Awards 2025 โ€”often called the โ€œJunior Nobel Prizeโ€ for undergraduates.

๐ŸŒŸ Jordan Teo
Awarded Highly Commended in his category, placing him among the top 10% globally out of 2,440 submissions from 347 universities across 99 countries!

๐Ÿ—ฃ Jordan shared: โ€œWhen I first received the email, I couldnโ€™t believe that my FYP paper was named Highly Commended. I felt immense pride representing NTU on a global scale, and Iโ€™m happy that my hard work was recognised.โ€

๐ŸŒŸ Akshat Singh
Named the Asia Regional Winner for his brilliant paper โ€œOn Understanding and Consciousness in Artificial Intelligence Systemsโ€ in the Philosophy category!

๐Ÿ—ฃ Akshat said: โ€œI felt overjoyed because Philosophy is my hobby, and to be awarded for something I love felt amazing. I worked hard, benchmarking past winners, proofreading, and applying all of Prof Teruโ€™s feedback, so itโ€™s incredibly encouraging to have this recognised.โ€

Both Jordan and Akshat represented NTU at the GUA Global Summit in Dublin, Ireland, from 9โ€“12 November 2025, joining inspiring young thinkers from around the world for three days of conversations, workshops, and a celebratory gala dinner. ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ชโœจ

Huge congratulations to both! Your achievements continue to make and proud. โค๏ธ๐Ÿ’™

๐ŸŽ‰ Big congratulations to Sinta Yowendra, Senior Assistant Manager from the Administration Support Office, on winning the Young MSO Award at the MSO PSO Night 2025 held at Marina Bay Sands last week! ๐Ÿ‘โœจ

Sinta is great at finding ways to make work easier and more effective. Using Robotic Process Automation (RPA) and AI tools, sheโ€™s helped her team work smarter. When thousands of files needed to be prepared, she built a script that took care of it automatically, saving the team hours of manual effort! ๐Ÿ’ป๐Ÿ’ก

๐Ÿ’ฌ โ€œNot every attempt is a success, so be ready to tweak, simplify, or even start over. That persistence is key! Together, weโ€™ve shown how digital transformation can truly make a difference,โ€ Sinta shared.

A truly inspiring win that reminds us how innovation and perseverance can go hand in hand. ๐ŸŒŸ

What a wonderful evening celebrating NTUโ€™s contributions to nation-building and the amazing spirit of our NTU community! ๐Ÿ’™โค๏ธ
