Congratulations to Leia Lung (7yo) for achieving 2nd runner-up in the “My Maritime Singapore Colouring Competition” (6–8yo category) held last Saturday (23 May 2026) during Singapore Heritage Fest! 🌟
Leia and Jordann (11yo) from took part in the competition together, accompanied by Teacher Soo. From 9–11am, both girls worked very hard outdoors at the Asian Civilisations Museum, completing their A3 artworks using only a set of 12 Crayola colour pencils provided at the event. It was a hot morning, and the girls stayed focused and committed throughout the entire 2 hours — tired hands, but determined hearts. ❤️
At , we encourage our students to join art competitions not simply for prizes or awards, but for the valuable experiences and personal growth.
Through art competitions, children learn courage—the courage to share their ideas and imagination with others. Putting their artwork out into the world can feel vulnerable, but it also helps them grow in confidence and self-expression.
They also learn patience and perseverance. Every artwork is a journey of experimenting, making mistakes and refining ideas. Children begin to understand that art is not just about talent, but also about dedication, observation and continuous learning.
Competitions can also teach resilience. Not every artwork will win, and not every effort will be recognised immediately—and that is perfectly okay. These moments help children learn how to accept feedback, improve, and continue creating without giving up.
Most importantly, children learn that art is deeply personal and beautifully diverse. There is no single “correct” way to create. They learn to appreciate different styles, perspectives and ideas, while understanding that another person’s success does not lessen their potential.
To us, the true value of art competitions is not about raising children who only chase medals, but nurturing young people who are expressive, observant, resilient and brave enough to share their creativity with the world.
The greatest reward is often not the trophy itself, but the confidence, growth and self-discovery that happen throughout the journey. ✨
