Freshwater pearl cultivation is a perfect example of science and art working together.
Because freshwater clams can produce pearls multiple times, they are incredibly productive. Farmers can guide color, shape, and size — even baroque pearls are often created intentionally by manipulating the nucleus.
This highly controlled process accounts for about 97% of all cultured pearls worldwide, though it’s important to know that most are chemically bleached or dyed before being sold.
Understanding these techniques is a key part of the Pearl Legacy Project, helping people see beyond the surface beauty of pearls.

In freshwater pearl farming, science meets nature.
The donor tissue plays a key role — it decides the pearl’s color, which always matches the mother shell. Any different color indicates chemical treatment.
Cultivation itself is the process of encouraging clams or oysters to build layers of mother-of-pearl inside their bodies, forming beautiful cultured pearls. This knowledge is at the heart of the Pearl Legacy Project, helping us understand how pearls are truly made.

The Ise Grand Shrine—the most sacred Shinto shrine in Japan.
For over two thousand years, it has been a place where nature, spirit, and tradition come together.
A timeless symbol of renewal, peace, and devotion.
Unfortunately not many foreigners know Ise Shima yet and there are still very few visitors from oversea compared with other area of Japan though Ise Shima has been well known in Japan historically. Ise shrine is one of the reason!
