Prime Minister Lawrence Wong's National Day Message will be broadcast on Aug 8, the Prime Minister's Office announced on Friday (Aug 1).

Mr Wong, who is also finance minister, will deliver his message in English.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade and Industry Gan Kim Yong will deliver the message in Mandarin, while Acting Minister-in-charge of Muslim Affairs and Senior Minister of State for the Ministry of Home Affairs Associate Professor Muhammad Faishal Ibrahim will deliver it in Malay.

The first broadcast in English will air on CNA and CNA938 at 6.40pm.

A breach at Cycle & Carriage's database has affected about 147,000 records containing customer information, the car distributor said on Friday (Aug 1).

In response to CNA's queries, a spokesperson from Cycle & Carriage said that it was alerted on Jul 14 to "unauthorised access" into its customer relationship management system by a threat actor who downloaded some customer information.

The affected sections of Tanjong Katong Road South will reopen in stages from Saturday (Aug 2), the Land Transport Authority and PUB said in a joint statement on Friday, a week after the formation of a sinkhole forced its closure.

Tanjong Katong Road South, from East Coast Parkway (ECP) to Mountbatten Road, will open to traffic on Saturday at noon, while the opposite direction from Mountbatten Road to ECP will open on Monday from 5am, the agencies added.

Checks conducted in consultation with the Building and Construction Authority have confirmed that the roads are safe for use, said LTA and PUB.

While naming a specific country linked to cyber threat group UNC3886 is not in Singapore’s interest at this point in time, the attack was still serious enough for the government to let the public know about the group, said Coordinating Minister for National Security and Minister for Home Affairs K Shanmugam on Friday (Aug 1).

The decision to identify cyber threat group UNC3886 was because Singaporeans “ought to know about it” given the seriousness of the threat, said the minister.

Four law firms that breached their anti-money laundering obligations over the purchase of properties in the S$3 billion (US$2.3 billion) money laundering case have been named, following the conclusion of investigations into their cases.

In an update on Friday (Aug 1), the Ministry of Law (MinLaw) said it had completed the regulatory action related to the four law firms - Anthony Law Corporation, Fortis Law Corporation, Legal Solutions LLC and Malkin & Maxwell LLP.

Five lawyers involved in the conveyancing of the seized real estate properties have also been referred to the Law Society for possible professional disciplinary action.

Seatrium has agreed to pay US$110 million as part of a deferred prosecution agreement over corruption offences in Brazil, Singapore's Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC) said on Wednesday (Jul 30).

This is a settlement where the prosecution agrees to defer criminal charges against a corporate offender in exchange for the corporation's agreement to comply with various conditions.

Seatrium has also agreed to pay about US$131 million to Brazilian authorities.

About 22,000 applications had been received for the flats in the ongoing Build-to-Order (BTO) sales exercise as of 5pm on Wednesday (Jul 30), said National Development Minister Chee Hong Tat.

This was higher than the 13,200 BTO applications received by the Housing and Development Board (HDB) in the previous sales exercise held in February, when there were 5,032 BTO flats put up for sale.

The sales exercise remains ongoing and will end at 11.59pm on Wednesday.

The Manpower Ministry (MOM) is in the latter stages of investigating a company and an employer for hiring two Filipino women who used forged university certificates in their Employment Pass (EP) applications, it said on Tuesday (Jul 29).
