On 25 November 2025, we hosted the online book launch for Challenges for Chinese Women in the Early Twenty-First Century, edited by Gordana Malešević.

The session featured presentations by the book’s contributors, each sharing key insights from their chapters. It concluded with a thoughtful panel discussion led by 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐫 𝐏𝐚𝐧 𝐖𝐚𝐧𝐠 from the University of New South Wales, Sydney.

The book sheds light on how China’s rapid modernization has created both progress and persistent inequality for women—revealing the social, political, and cultural forces shaping gender relations today.

This publication commemorates the 30th anniversary of the World Conference on Women held in Beijing in 1995 and brings together scholars from Asia, North America, and Europe to examine key issues affecting women’s lives, from divorce and land rights to migration and self-determination.
