What happens to your HDB without a will? We broke down the confusing legal stuff into one easy chart 🤷‍♂️

According to the Intestate Succession Act, if you pass away without a will and have no kids, your home ownership is split 50-50 between your spouse and your surviving parents. 🤯

While the law tries to be fair to your extended family, this "default mode" can lead to complicated situations—like your spouse suddenly co-owning the marital home with their in-laws.

Put this into your 2026 resolution to write a will to be sure your wishes are met.

It's an important part of being a responsible homeowner.

What happens when you take a traditional tropical home and flip it on its head? 🏠🙃

Welcome to the Cloister House in Johor Bahru, a single-storey “box” that hides a series of lush courtyards, fort-like walls, and an incredible inverted roof!

By flipping the pitch of the roof inwards, the home funnels natural light and rain directly into internal gardens, creating a natural cooling system so effective the family rarely needs air-con.

That undulating ceiling? It’s made of hand-assembled Chengal wood that took a craftsman 14 months to finish. 🪵✨

Same home, new stories

In their 30s, Edward and Joel welcome us back into their 1,006 sq ft walk-up—a home that has quietly grown with them over the past three years. Reworked into a calm, character-filled one-bedroom, it reflects how they live today. Original oak floors and select cabinetry remain, layered with subtle mid-century touches.

Travel finds line the open shelves, alongside a photobook from their Botswana trip that still gets flipped through. The mango wood dining table was love at first sight and remains the heart of the home, while light, easy tones set the pace for everyday living. In the bedroom, deeper hues help slow things down at the end of the day.

A home they return to—again and again—to truly unwind.

This home is a modern minimalist landed home on the outside, but it has the soul of a 1950s kampong on the inside. 🥥✨

At first glance, you see a sleek, all-white architecture that looks more like a high-end art gallery than a family home. But look closer, and you’ll uncover the ultimate design paradox.

Dark wood of the past stripped away, and replaced with a crisp, monochromatic palette. Instead of making the space colder, it became a canvas for natural light and connection.

It’s the little contradictions that steal the show: stepping stones over a sleek entry pond, dining stools carved from reclaimed logwood, and bird-cages reimagined as industrial pendant lights. 🕊️🌿

Does walking down your hallway feel like an accidental runway show? 🫣✨

You know the feeling of the “Long Corridor Effect”, as told by ? You step out of the bedroom, face a long hallway, and suddenly feel exposed to anyone sitting on the sofa.

Cliff Tan shares a trick or two to fix this uncomfortable energy: Block or Distract.

Blocking may not be ideal for compact spaces, so this is where you can deploy the “Distract” solution by tricking the eye to look elsewhere instead of staring at you!
