This happened recently over a dinner
Aunty at the next table asked how did we train our son to eat so well.

🤨🤨

The word train says a lot about how we see children.

We chose something different.
We chose respect, trust, and autonomy.

And today, we’re seeing the quiet results of that choice.

I’m proud of the way we parent.

Do you celebrate your lunar birthday?

Growing up, my grandma always cooked mian xian with a duck leg for our lunar birthdays.

No candles.
No cake.
Just a warm bowl of soup noodles

Now that I’ve moved out, life doesn’t always line up with our Saturday visits.
So instead, she gives me ang bao money and tells me to buy my own roasted duck leg.
so the tradition continues.

It’s not so much about the food.
It’s about remembrance, continuity, and care passed quietly through generations.

What makes me smile is how my husband takes this seriously too.
Last night, we ate out, just to get that duck leg.

And it got me thinking…
Traditions don’t have to be big or perfect.
They just have to be felt.

It’s my birthday ✨

And I’m welcoming this next year not at my best ..

Nursing a pink eye, freshly back from a draining JB trip..

My body clearly asking me to slow down.
Which somehow feels… fitting.

This coming year doesn’t feel like a reinvention year.

It feels like a definition year.
A year of choosing carefully.

Of letting what I believe become something I live, not just feel.
Of building slowly — with people, commitments, and rhythms that actually support the future I’m creating.

I’m looking forward to grounding myself in what matters:
• refining my voice and direction
• choosing depth over noise, alignment over speed
• showing up with more clarity and integrity

As part of this, I’ll be working towards my ICF coaching hours in 2026

I’m opening up 2 free coaching sessions in January.

Today was one of those quiet moments in motherhood.

We held a boundary after my child rode his scooter far ahead and didn’t stop to wait for us.

Later, in the shower, the emotions came..

He cried.
He wanted his car.
His body needed to release.

And instead of rushing him through the routine, I stayed.

I held the space.

I didn’t fix it.
I didn’t force the next step.

It took about 20–30 minutes.

And I noticed something shift..
not in him, but in me.

This is what growth looks like now.

Less urgency.
More presence.

Trusting that emotions can move through safely.

Quiet work.
Real work.

I’ve been sitting with this for a longggfg time…
and tbh, I don’t resonate with the label “first-time mother.”

Yes — this is my first child.
And yes — this was technically my second pregnancy.
But the assumption that “first-time” equals naïve or inexperienced… that part doesn’t land well with me.

By the time I conceived & was in my pregnancy, I had already read deeply, listened intentionally, asked better questions, and chosen the kind of village that would shape me into the mother I wanted to be.

Not because I wanted to be perfect.
But because I am committed to breaking cycles.
Because I want my child to receive what I didn’t.
Because I believe motherhood begins long before birth.

And I want to say this gently, but clearly:

Please don’t place yourself beneath anyone just because this is your first pregnancy or your first time mothering.

You’re not “less than” because your journey is beginning.
You don’t owe automatic authority to people simply because they’ve done it before.

With the right community, knowledge, and internal grounding, you can make choices that feel deeply aligned for you — and stand by them, even in front of medical professionals, elders, or strangers with loud opinions.

Motherhood is not measured by the number of pregnancies.
It’s shaped by intention, awareness, and the willingness to lead yourself.

Trust yourself.
Your voice is allowed to matter from the very beginning.
