Technique is not only knowing what to play. It is knowing where you are, where you need to go and how to arrive there securely.

The better we know the map, the more freely we can move through the music.

What if the instrument is not only the accordion?

In this clip, describes the body and the accordion as one system: not two separate things, but a single musical entity.

That changes the way we think about warming up, movement, sound production, physical health and even interpretation. Every gesture, large or small, becomes part of how the music is shaped.

The question is no longer only, “How do I play the accordion?”

It becomes: “How do my body and the accordion work together to create the sound I want?”

“The accordion is a young instrument.”

We say this often and, of course, compared to many classical instruments, it is true.

But in this clip, questions whether that idea is still enough.

The accordion already has great performers, important repertoire, strong teachers and a serious place on concert stages. Its future cannot only depend on saying that the instrument is still young or only on constantly creating new repertoire.

It also depends on what happens more quietly: teaching, developing young players, building foundations and taking responsibility for the next generation.

Maybe the question is no longer only: How do we prove the accordion belongs? Maybe it is also: How do we build from what already exists?

That is exactly the problem.

Three accordions can leave a very specific gap that only a fourth accordion can fill.

So much of becoming a musician happens alone.

Hours in a room. Repeating, listening, adjusting, questioning. Learning not only the instrument, but also how to be with yourself.

But as Anthony Schulz () says in this clip, that solitude only becomes meaningful when it returns to communication: when the work somehow re-enters community, society and the lives of other people.

Maybe that is one of the quiet paradoxes of being a musician: we spend so much time alone in order to connect more honestly with others.

We just have a mysterious left-hand button universe where one finger can casually summon a full chord and confuse everyone in the room.
