Today, after a very long time, I sat down at the station, turned on 14 MHz (SSB), and just casually called CQ for fun. 📻
Almost 40 QSOs in one hour of operating! 💪

And as the cherry on top of the cake 🍒🎂 – a QSO with Ferry from Indonesia, YB0AR. 🌏
Ferry regularly livestreams his DX activity, which makes it even more interesting.

It’s really fascinating to hear how I sound all the way in Indonesia! 😄🌐
Of course, I recorded a screen video as well! 🎥😉

📡 CQ WPX SSB Contest Weekend! 🌍

This weekend, one of the biggest amateur radio events took place – the CQ WPX SSB Contest 🎙️.

It’s known as one of the most popular contests worldwide, attracting thousands of operators and generating millions of QSOs every year 📊.

Due to other commitments, I joined the contest just “for a taste” 😄 and to keep my SSB (phone) operating skills sharp.

In about 5 hours of operating, I managed to log 200 QSOs 📖, almost all in S/P (Search & Pounce) mode. Instead of chasing numbers, I focused more on working interesting DX stations 🌎✨.

A short but fun session – always great to be on the air! 🔊

It looks like the 3Y0K DXpedition to Bouvet Island has come to an end. 🌍🏝️ The team took advantage of good weather conditions to leave what is considered the most remote island in the world.

I think the guys experienced a real DXpedition in the true sense of the word. 🚢❄️ Several days at sea, then a helicopter🚁 ride to the island, and setting up camp in strong winds and cold… hats off to them! 🎩👏

I managed to work them as well – ATNO! 🎉
Three contacts via FT8: 21 MHz, 14 MHz, and with quite a bit of effort also on 28 MHz. 📡💻

Unfortunately, we didn’t manage to connect on SSB, as our calls just didn’t line up. 🎙️❌
I hope there will soon be another opportunity to catch Bouvet (3Y) on phone as well. 🤞📻

I’m always happy when I manage to make contact with a DXpedition 🌍📡
Today it was J51A (Guinea-Bissau) — a nice catch! 😃
For Bouvet 3Y0K, I’ll probably have to wait a bit longer… 🏝️⏳
Low power and modest equipment don’t exactly give us much of a chance during the first days of the big DXpeditions 😅
But that’s part of the challenge — and the fun! 💪📻

Last night I tried out the “latest hit” in HF digital communications — FT2 📡💻
Very interesting, and above all, fast ⚡
You can definitely tell it’s still experimental, as there are quite a few operator errors along the way 😄
I can see that many operators are eager to try something new 🔍
The mode is certainly very interesting, but the question remains whether it will reach even close to the popularity of FT8 🤔📊

📝At the amateur radio course, we were taught that a QSO is not complete until a QSL card has been sent.📨
Although with a bit of delay, better late than never — I’m preparing to send QSL cards for my holiday DXpeditions from the past few years (2022–2025).
