This is Charla Nash in 2016… exactly 7 years after the day that changed her life forever 🦍💔
February 16, 2009. Travis, her friend’s 200-pound pet chimpanzee, snapped without warning. In just minutes, he took almost everything from her:
✋ 9 fingers
👁️ both eyes and her sight forever
👃👄 her nose, lips, and the entire mid-face bone structure
Doctors even had to surgically remove chimp teeth and hair embedded deep in her bones 😔 They told her family she wouldn’t survive the night.
But Charla did more than survive.
She flew to Ohio for one of the world’s first full face transplants. She learned to “see” the world again—this time with her heart 👩🦯✨
Seven years later, she smiled for this photo.
A real, radiant smile.
A smile that quietly says: “I’m still here… and I choose joy.”
Charla Nash didn’t just beat the impossible…
She chose to live beautifully, bravely, every single day she has left ❤️🥹
If one woman can find light after darkness this deep, there is always, always hope for the rest of us 🕊️
