Parliament Stands Down Marampa & Maforki CDC and Marampa Mining Limited

The Parliamentary Oversight Committee on Mines and Mineral Resources has stood down the Marampa and Maforki Community Development Committee (CDC) and Marampa Mining Limited, after they failed to present key documents during a recent oversight hearing in Lunsar, Port Loko District.

The Chairman of the Mines Committee Hon. Saa Emerson Lamina has ordered both parties to reappear in two weeks for further questioning, as Parliament pushes for full accountability and transparency in the mining sector.

The People of Sambaia Chiefdom Sign Landmark Agreement with Government!

On Friday, August 22, 2025, the people of Sambaia Chiefdom, led by Hon. Paramount Chief Musa Bamba Foray Kulio Jalloh III, officially signed a land lease agreement with the Government of Sierra Leone through the SLMMDMC.

This historic step brings the Kasafoni Iron Ore Deposit under the management of the Mineral Wealth Fund — ensuring the mineral resources are properly managed for the development of the community and the entire nation.

The meeting also created space for frank dialogue between government and the people of Sambaia Chiefdom, clearing misconceptions and bridging the communication gap over the Kassafoni concession.

During a community engagement in Diang, the Minister of Finance and Chairman of the SLMMDMC, Hon. Sheku Fantamadi Bangura, addressed stakeholders to clear up misunderstandings surrounding the Kasafoni iron ore concession.

He emphasized the government’s mandate through the SLMMDMC and the Mineral Wealth Fund and called on all stakeholders to work together towards the timely development of the concession for the benefit of Sierra Leone. 🇸🇱
