Western Area - Plan International Sierra Leone Alumni Leads in Shaping Plan International’s First Operations Guide
Plan International Sierra Leone Sponsorship Alumni -YEM &CO has successfully validated its first-ever Sponsorship Alumni Operations Guide, a landmark achievement in strengthening alumni engagement and driving collective action for lasting change.
The new framework provides a roadmap for how former sponsored children and program participants can stay connected, empowered, and positioned as champions for child rights, gender equality, and community transformation. By promoting structured collaboration, the guide ensures alumni are not only partners but also leaders in advocacy and social impact initiatives.
As President of the Western Area Alumni Chapter, I was honored to represent my region in this important process. I and my colleagues made meaningful contributions to the validation, ensuring the perspectives of our chapter were reflected. This engagement reinforced the importance of alumni voices in shaping tools that drive real change.
The Alumni Operations Guide is designed to strengthen leadership capacity, create mentorship opportunities, and align alumni efforts with national and global priorities. Its impact will be felt across districts as alumni lead advocacy, champion youth empowerment, and support gender equality.
This milestone marks the beginning of a stronger partnership with the Alumni Association, ensuring sustainability, ownership, and a collective voice that speaks for children and young people across Sierra Leone.
Together, we are building a vibrant, action-oriented alumni movement committed to making every child’s rights a reality.
