Liberia is investing US$8.3 billion over five years in inclusive development, prioritizing gender equality, youth empowerment, education, health, and social welfare.
Commitments include:
Zero tolerance for gender-based violence with education and dedicated budgets.
A permanent ban on harmful cultural practices, replacing the former moratorium.
A National Action Plan for Young Women and Girls for empowerment and protection.
Liberia’s proverb-inspired message: collective empowerment of women strengthens nations.
As a new UN Security Council member, Liberia will ensure women and youth shape the peace and security agenda.
Impactful programs include:
Liberia Women Empowerment Project: helping 36,000 women entrepreneurs across 6 counties.
REALISE Project: supporting 53,650 vulnerable households with cash transfers and business aid (80% women).
NEP & Accelerating Impact Programs: training nearly 25,000 adolescent girls in health, life, and entrepreneurship skills; projected to reach 160,000 by 2031.
He concluded by reaffirming Liberia’s dedication to advancing gender equality in partnership with Africa and the global community, ensuring the Beijing+30 goals become a reality for present and future generations.
