Mission Statement – Africa Scout Youth Advisor Aspirant

As a dedicated and experienced member of the Scout Movement, I seek to serve as Africa Scout Youth Advisor with a clear mission: to elevate youth voices, strengthen youth participation, and contribute meaningfully to the continued growth and transformation of Scouting in Africa.

My vision is rooted in unity, innovation, and action. I firmly believe that young people are not just beneficiaries of development—they are leaders, problem-solvers, and drivers of sustainable change.

As Youth Advisor, I am committed to the following priorities:

1. Youth Empowerment & Leadership
- Promote leadership training, mentorship, and platforms where young Scouts can take active roles in shaping policies, programs, and decisions that impact them.

2. Scouts for SDGs & Impact-Driven Programs
- Advocate for and support youth-led initiatives that align with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially in climate action, peacebuilding, and community service.

3. Regional Collaboration & Unity
- Strengthen networks across National Scout Organizations in Africa to share best practices, foster solidarity, and ensure balanced representation from diverse backgrounds.

4. Inclusion & Accessibility
- Promote inclusive Scouting that welcomes young people of all abilities, genders, and communities, ensuring no Scout is left behind.

5. Visibility & Communication
- Improve how youth voices are documented, amplified, and communicated through storytelling, digital media, and advocacy within and beyond Scouting.

6. Safe & Supportive Environments
- Prioritize youth protection by promoting the “Safe from Harm” framework and ensuring Scouts operate in respectful, inclusive, and secure environments.

I am Sinneh Koroma, a passionate and committed young leader from Sierra Leone, serving in multiple capacities within the Scouting Movement. As the Youth Commissioner and Deputy Adult Resources and Training Commissioner of the Sierra Leone Scouts Association, I champion youth participation, leadership development, and skills-based training across all levels.

With active involvement at the national, regional, and international stages, I’ve represented my country at the International Leadership Training Course and the 9th Africa Scouts Jamboree in Burundi, serving as a proud member of the International Service Team (IST) and the Safe from Harm team. My journey also includes leading training programs for Rovers, designing national training calendars, and pushing for the inclusion of digital tools in youth development.

Through my roles, I continue to promote youth empowerment, Safe from Harm awareness, and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), using Scouting as a platform for change and service. I believe that with innovation, dedication, and teamwork, we can shape a stronger, more inclusive Africa for young people.

Scouting is more than a movement for me — it's a calling to serve, lead, and inspire others to become agents of positive change in their communities.
