𝗙𝗿𝗼𝗺: A Concerned and Patriotic Citizen

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗯𝗹𝗲𝗺: 𝗔 𝗖𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗢𝗯𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗻 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗥𝗼𝗮𝗱
As a patriotic citizen who cares deeply about the smooth flow of life and commerce in Freetown, I must urgently draw your attention to a recurring and worsening problem: the persistent, unlawful parking of Lumley and Aberdeen route vehicles on the main Regent Road, specifically near the junction with Goderich Street.

Regent Road is designed to be a vital two-lane artery for vehicle movement. However, because of this continuous, unauthorized occupation by commercial vehicles, the road has effectively been reduced to a single lane.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗜𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝗼𝗻 𝗗𝗮𝗶𝗹𝘆 𝗟𝗶𝗳𝗲
This unlawful parking is causing significant traffic congestion that is now severely affecting citizens and the local economy.

◽️Gridlock: The bottleneck created at this point makes two-way movement of traffic extremely difficult, leading to frustrating, time-consuming gridlock, especially during peak hours.

◽️Time and Cost: This wasted time in traffic translates to lost productivity for workers, delayed essential services, and increased fuel costs for drivers, impacting everyone.

◽️Safety Risk: Reducing a two-lane road to one creates dangerous maneuvering conditions and increases the risk of accidents for both drivers and passengers.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗿𝗻: 𝗚𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗵 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗲𝘁 𝗮𝘀 𝗮 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗟𝗼𝘁

Beyond the main road, Goderich Street itself is being used as an unofficial parking and waiting lot for these same commercial vehicles. This practice further exacerbates the problem by:

🔹𝗕𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗙𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗙𝗹𝗼𝘄: Impeding the natural flow of vehicles trying to enter or exit Goderich Street.

🔹𝗘𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗲𝗱𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗻𝘀: The sidewalk space is often taken over, forcing pedestrians—including children and the elderly—to walk in the already crowded street, putting them in harm's way.

𝗔 𝗣𝗹𝗲𝗮 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝘁𝗼 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻

We understand and appreciate the hard work of both the SLRSA and the SLRA in maintaining our nation's road infrastructure and safety. However, we are pleading for a decisive intervention to address this "itching" problem.
We urge the responsible authorities to investigate this matter immediately and implement a clear, consistent, and sustained enforcement strategy to:

1. Clear the Unlawful Parking: Permanently remove all unauthorized vehicles parked along the main Regent Road and Goderich Street intersection.

2. Enforce Lane Discipline: Ensure that the full two-lane capacity of Regent Road is restored and maintained for the free and safe movement of traffic.

Our roads are public assets intended for the use and benefit of all citizens. By taking swift action, the SLRSA and SLRA can significantly alleviate this daily stress point and contribute to a safer, more efficient Freetown.

In recent days, social media and news platforms in Sierra Leone have been buzzing with reports surrounding popular musician and entrepreneur 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗮𝘀𝗵𝗮 𝗕𝗲𝗰𝗸𝗹𝗲𝘆, who has reportedly been 𝗱𝗲𝗰𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗶𝗲𝗿𝗿𝗮 𝗟𝗲𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗣𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗲.

According to police statements, Natasha’s home was raided on the 4th of October, 2025, following what they described as “credible intelligence” linking her to a d£ug-related crime. The announcement immediately stirred public interest, as Natasha is one of Sierra Leone’s most recognized female artists, admired for her talent, confidence, and contribution to entertainment and youth empowerment.

However, in a surprising twist, Natasha Beckley herself broke the silence. She released a public video debunking the claims that she was on the run or hiding from authorities. In her video, Natasha calmly stated that she has been at her home in Freetown all along, going about her normal life and was never contacted or arrested by the police.

This contradiction between the police report and Natasha’s own statement has left the public divided. Some citizens are questioning the credibility and motives behind the police’s wanted notice, while others are urging patience until official investigations conclude.

As the situation unfolds, many Sierra Leoneans are calling for transparency and fairness in handling the matter, emphasizing that both law enforcement and public figures should be treated with respect and due process.

My fellow Sierra Leoneans, let’s have an honest tok—a heart-to-heart about the future of our beloved nation.
We've been waiting for too long, looking to the next election, the next leader, the next contract to bring the change we desperately need.

But here is the unvarnished truth: You don’t need a government contract to come home and build your country. You don't need a seat in power to uplift a hungry, striving nation like Sierra Leone.
Development isn't a secret held hostage by State House or Parliament; it’s a commitment every single one of us can make, right now. It’s about being truly 𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗰.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗗𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗹 𝗣𝗮𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗼𝘁𝗶𝘀𝗺 𝗟𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗟𝗶𝗸𝗲?

It’s easy to critique. It’s easy to condemn. But real patriotism is about action.

➡️𝗧𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗸 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗶𝘁:

▫️How many times have opposition leaders or parties only condemned policies when it directly affects their political ambitions?

▫️How many have genuinely stepped forward and worked with communities beyond the election season?

▫️How many have tirelessly worked to attract investors, not for a contract, but for the good of the masses, even when they held no official power?

We need to stop waiting for "paper development"—the beautiful manuscripts, the empty promises, the fancy jargon. Sierra Leone needs 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹, 𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗱𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 on the ground.

Here comes a true patriotic citizen, fondly known by many as “𝗝𝗮𝗴𝗮𝗯𝗮𝗻.” A man whose heart beats for the progress and development of our beloved Sierra Leone. Despite all odds, he has chosen to take the lead in bringing positive change to our nation — a move that deserves every bit of support and encouragement.

Jagaban’s passion for national growth goes beyond politics; it is about love for country and a genuine desire to make Sierra Leone a better place for all. Therefore, the 𝗴𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗲𝘃𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝘂𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 should lend him a helping hand — not hinder him — so that his dreams and projects for national development can become a reality.

Even though he belongs to an 𝗼𝗽𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗽𝗼𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝘆, his efforts should not be politicized or obstructed. True patriotism means working together for the good of the nation, regardless of political differences. If someone like Jagaban is willing to invest his time, resources, and energy in developing Sierra Leone, then the 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝘄𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗱𝗼 𝗮𝘀 𝗮 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗿𝘆 is to give him the right support, provide him with proper documentation, and help remove unnecessary barriers that may slow down his progress.

▫️President Donald Trump has confirmed that Sean “Diddy” Combs has requested a presidential pardon in connection with his federal criminal case.

While speaking with CNN’s Kaitlan Collins on Monday regarding a potential pardon for Jeffrey Epstein’s former girlfriend Ghislaine Maxwell, Trump mentioned that “a lot of people have asked me for pardons,” including Combs, who was sentenced Friday to more than four years in prison for his conviction on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution.

▫️In August, a member of Combs’ defense team told CNN that the music mogul’s camp had reached out to the Trump administration about a potential pardon.

“It’s my understanding that we’ve reached out and had conversations in reference to a pardon,” attorney Nicole Westmoreland told CNN’s Elizabeth Wagmeister at the time.

Trump had previously indicated that he was unlikely to pardon Combs during an interview with Newsmax, saying, “I was very friendly with him, I got along with him great and he seemed like a nice guy. I didn’t know him well. But when I ran for office, he was very hostile.”

Trump added at the time that this made pardoning Combs “more difficult to do.”

▫️When contacted by CNN regarding Westmoreland’s comments in August, a White House official said they “will not comment on the existence or nonexistence of any clemency request.”

Also on Monday, lawyers for Combs asked Judge Arun Subramanian – who sentenced the disgraced mogul on Friday – to recommend to the Bureau of Prisons that Combs be placed at a low security federal correctional facility in Fort Dix, New Jersey where he can “address drug abuse issues” and “maximize family visitation and rehabilitative efforts.”

𝗪𝗔𝗦𝗛𝗜𝗡𝗚𝗧𝗢𝗡, 𝗢𝗰𝘁 𝟲 (𝗥𝗲𝘂𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀)- The U.S. government shutdown entered its sixth day on Monday, with President Donald Trump's Republicans and congressional Democrats still at an impasse and the White House threatening to ramp up pressure by ordering mass layoffs of federal workers.

▫️The Republican-led Senate was slated to vote again on dueling measures to fund federal agencies, including a Republican stopgap bill approved by the House of Representatives that would fund operations through November 21, and a Democratic alternative. Neither was expected to receive the 60 votes needed to advance.

Asked on Sunday night when the government would begin laying off federal workers, Trump said: "It's taking place right now." He blamed Democrats for the impasse but did not elaborate on the layoff plans. The White House has said thousands could be fired if the shutdown persists.

▫️Trump's budget director, Russell Vought, has already frozen at least $28 billion in infrastructure funds for New York, California and Illinois — all home to sizable Democratic populations and critics of the president.

Trump and his Republican allies have also taunted Democrats on social media with deepfake videos drawing on Mexican stereotypes with images that Vice President JD Vance described as a joke.

▫️The 𝟭𝟵𝟵𝟭 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 prioritizes constituency-based FPTP elections, with PR allowed only under exceptional crises. APC says Sierra Leone is not in a crisis.

▫️The 𝗧𝗿𝗶𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝟳𝟴 and its national consultation were manipulated by the government, ignoring the people’s preference for FPTP.

▫️APC sees 𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿-𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗮𝗹𝘀 (covering parliament and executive positions) as a ploy by SLPP to entrench itself in power.

▫️They warn against creating new districts without proper 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆, 𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗮, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗶𝗻𝗽𝘂𝘁.

APC references 𝗞𝗲𝗻𝘆𝗮’𝘀 𝗳𝗮𝗶𝗹𝗲𝗱 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 with similar reforms, which led to violence.

The party insists Sierra Leone needs 𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗲, 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗱𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗰𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 rather than constitutional manipulation.

However, the position may also reflect partisan resistance to electoral reforms that could weaken APC’s dominance under FPTP. While the statement appeals to democratic principles, it risks appearing as a political battle cry rather than a balanced policy stance.

Today, Sierra Leone mourns the loss of a great son of the soil. 𝗗𝗿. 𝗝𝗮𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝗦𝗮𝗻𝗽𝗵𝗮 𝗞𝗼𝗿𝗼𝗺𝗮, the visionary founder and CEO of Union Trust Bank Limited, has gone to rest. 😭😭😭

A man of wisdom, humility, and strength, he dedicated his life to building a legacy that gave countless Sierra Leoneans hope and opportunities. Through his leadership, he proved that with determination and love for one’s country, greatness can be achieved at home. His name will forever be written in the history of Sierra Leone as a pioneer who believed in us when others doubted.

This is not just the passing of a leader, but of a father figure, a mentor, and an icon whose footsteps many will continue to follow. Our hearts are heavy, our tears are endless, but our gratitude for his life and contributions will never fade.
