Last week Friday, we had our first interview in Freetown, with DJ Target. Our very own artists Mr. Yung, Scenario along with our label manager, Besh were there. We had a chance for some of their songs to be aired and as well as meaningful engagement with the audience. Amongst the many things we discussed, we were thrilled to have our artists share the inspiration behind some of their songs.
Mr. Yung’s shared that his single, Wifey, drew inspiration from the love of a young couple he met during his travels in Makeni. He further mentioned that for him music is life and is his passion. He grew up listening to lots of music in his family, as they all loved to sing and dance to music. He is glad that he’s now doing what he loves and that opportunity to be signed is and will be more source of inspiration to continue to give his all, to entertain his fans.
Scenario, like Mr. Yung, is also very passionate about music and he is happy, he is taking it to another level of making music he’s career. He’s music is heavily influenced by his experiences, and they have been a great medium to express his emotions.
Without forgetting our able Label manger, Besh, who spilled to the audience our aims and objectives as a management. He eloquently revealed that the management is aware of how the Sierra Leonean entertainment industry is taking a positive turn, and deciding to create the label was a way the he and the CEO thought they could contribute to uplifting talented youths, during a time with not so many labels to manage creative young minds.
Towards the end of the interview, Dj Target asked the label about what the challenges were and Besh said it as it: the cost of the studio sessions, branding, and promotions. Being a new label, we are aware that it is an investment worth the risks and trials, and with a strong management, we will face the challenges.
With regards to the artist of the label, we were asked who we had signed so far, and we formally made their names known to the audience: Mr. Yung, Scenario and Mr. Lyfe. Besh, mentioned that we are looking forward to signing a female artist in the coming months, and any female artist interest can reach out to audition to be signed.
One significant question was asked when the phone lines were turned on, and it was about the unity of the group and about how they’ve seen many labels dissolve because their artists don’t get along no sooner, they become famous. Besh mentioned that the artist as well as management have been working as family before the label, and have a bond outside the label, and so will collectively try to not disappoint the fans.
Finally, Dj closed by asking how we hope to enhance the talents of our artist, and the label manager revealed about the artists having vocal coaches, that will help them personally with their vocal skills.
In a nutshell, the interview was an opportunity to introduce our artists and their respective songs, which the audience called in saying they loved. We are grateful to know that the efforts are appreciated and loved. We hope to make more quality music to you in the coming days.
