*DEPUTY MINISTER OF WATER RESOURCES & SANITATION ENGAGES THE LEAD CONSULTANT FOR THE WORLD BANK FUNDED WASH DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM FOR SIERRA LEONE IN STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN.-*

The World Bank had temporality halted support in the WASH sector of Sierra Leone, Since Minister Sao-Kpato Hannah Isatta Max- Kyne PhD and her deputy Ing. Francis Alpha Kallon took over, they have been focused on restoring the confidence of the Bank to provide funding for this important project. The Minister has delegated her deputy Ing. Francis Alpha Kallon to spearhead constructive engagements with the Bank's Country Office to take the process forward.
In actualization of this dream, the Deputy Minister Ing. Francis Alpha Kallon had an engagement with the lead consultant, *Prof Kwabena Nyarko*, contracted by the World Bank to develop a WASH Development Plan for Sierra Leone, on the margins of the World Water Week in Stockholm, Sweden. Key issues discussed were hinged on the Urban & Rural Water & Sanitation Strategy, the WASH Policy, as well as the strategic plan of the Ministry.
Ing. Francis Alpha Kallon admonished that preparation of the WASH Development Plan 2025 to 2030 will help guide the sector towards providing universal and sustainable access to safe water and sanitation services in Sierra Leone.
He furthered that the document should be aligned with the Medium Term National Development Plan and should embrace elements of climate-resilient WASH infrastructure.
Prof Nyarko assured the Deputy Minister that the final WASH Development Program Document will be completed and submitted to the Ministry in December 2024 which will form the basis for engagement with development partners to solicit funding support for the WASH sector multi-year program implementation.
Ing. Kallon urged that this assignment be completed within the set timeframe and assured that the leadership of the Ministry will provide the requisite support that will boost the confidence of the bank.
