in Parliament and Local Councils.

30 days of questions from supporters
about representation and accountability.

Even as things appear calm on the surface…

Concerns remain.
Calls for dialogue have been made twice through the Speaker of Parliament.

Yet, for over 30 days,
there has been no functioning main opposition in mainstream governance.

But after the elections…..what changes?

No new schools.
No better roads.
No real investment in the people who defend them the most.

So here’s the uncomfortable question: Are strongholds being taken for granted?

If political parties can mobilize millions for rallies, why can’t they mobilize resources for development?

Sierra Leone’s electricity sector has moved from the National Power Authority to the Electricity Generation and Transmission Company and the Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority (EDSA). Now, another major shift is on the horizon. The government has announced that by the end of 2026, the operations of EDSA will be handed over to a private company. While officials insist that EDSA is not being sold and will remain under government ownership, the day-to-day running of the institution will be placed in private hands, with the promise of improved efficiency, better service delivery, and stronger financial performance.

Beyond these assurances, will this transition bring stable flow amidst higher tariffs? Is this a necessary reform to fix a struggling sector or an indication that the government can no longer sustain it alone?

Maybe the real issue is not just about privatisation.
