YUS RAWND SALONE-Second Edition of the Week
Human trafficking remains one of the most urgent human rights crises globally-with 38% of detected victims in 2022 identified as children and over 60% being women and girls . Estimates suggest 28 to 50 million people worldwide are living in modern slavery, including forced labour, sexual exploitation, and even online scam recruitment. July 30th every year Sierra Leone joins other countries to observe the World Day Against Trafficking in Persons.
So what is the status of human trafficking in Sierra Leone?
In today’s edition of Yus Rawand Salone, we host the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Taskforce Secretariat to reflect on progress made so far, discuss recent actions taken, expose the current trends in trafficking affecting Sierra Leoneans, share what more must be done-by both state and society.
