A CALL FOR ONENESS IN THE FIGHT AGAINST KUSH IN SIERRA LEONE.

The rapid rise in the abuse of kush has become one of the most alarming social and public health crises facing Sierra Leone today. Its devastating effects are destroying the lives of young people, tearing families apart, and threatening the very fabric of our communities.

As Sierra Leone Media Educators (SLeME), we believe that the fight against kush cannot be won by a single institution, individual, or government body. It requires oneness, collaboration, and collective responsibility from parents, teachers, traditional leaders, religious institutions, community-based organizations, the media, and the youth themselves.

We call on all Sierra Leoneans to rise above blame and division, and unite in purpose. Let us focus our energies on education, awareness, rehabilitation, and empowerment not punishment alone. The media must serve as a powerful tool for enlightenment, sharing real stories and information that will awaken the conscience of the nation and inspire action.

SLeME pledges its full commitment to use the power of communication and education to combat the spread of kush. We urge everyone to join hands because together, we can reclaim our youth, restore our communities, and rebuild a healthier Sierra Leone.

Together, we stand. Divided, we fall.
Let’s unite to end kush for the future of our nation.

President Bio Appoints Main Opposition Strongman To Ministerial Position

FREETOWN (TV-News24) - President Julius Maada Bio of Sierra Leone has appointed a former flagbearer aspirant of the main opposition All People’s Congress to a ministerial position, a press statement from the president’s office said Tuesday.

Alpha Kanu takes over as Northwest Region Resident Minister, replacing Haja Isata Abdulia-Kamara, also a former member of another opposition party.

Kamara will now serve as Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry, according to the statement.

Kanu is still a member of APC, and there’s been no official correspondence available to suggest he’s resigned from the party.

TV-News24 hasn’t been able to get a response from APC authorities.

Regardless, Kanu’s relationship with the party isn’t smooth - as it was prior to the 2018 presidential election.

And TV-News24 senior reporter in Kambia district Alusine Babah Kamara, said: “When APC decided not to attend Bintumani III, but Kanu attended the conference on his own, some people said he’s joined the ruling Sierra Leone People’s Party.”

Aside from Kanu’s appointment, the president also made several key changes within his government.

Former Minister of Transport and Aviation, Sadiq Sillah, is now Sierra Leone’s ambassador to Egypt.

Also, suspended Executive Director of Sierra Leone Road Safety Authority Ibrahim Sannoh, has now been sacked and replaced with Rev. Smart Senesie.
