Foreign Affairs Minister Recalls Consular Staff Over Visa Fraud Allegations

Sierra Leone's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hon. Mohamed Rahman Swaray, has recalled all consular staff serving abroad with immediate effect.

This comes after allegations of irregularities in official government applications and visa fraud.

The Minister has also launched a full corruption investigation into the matter.

UK DISMISSES CLAIM IT SUPPLIES CHEMICALS FOR KUSH PRODUCTION

The British High Commission in Freetown has dismissed claims that the United Kingdom is a major supplier of chemicals used to produce Kush in Sierra Leone.

This comes after Mohamed Jaward Nyallay, Strategic Communications Adviser at the Ministry of Information and Civic Education, claimed on Sunday, October 4, 2026, that "the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, and China rank among the top suppliers of chemicals used in drug production."

The UK High Commission says the assertion is inaccurate.

GOVT CLARIFIES EU BUDGET SUPPORT REPORT*l

Govt says the EU's decision to postpone its 2026 budget support to Sierra Leone was communicated in July 2026 and was due to delays in amending the Financing Agreement, not the 'Bolle Jos' case.

The EU has proposed to shift the 2026 and 2027 payments to 2027 and 2028. Govt says EU confirmed the decision was not linked to any individual.

Govt says the broader EU partnership is not suspended and reaffirms commitment to fighting transnational crime.
