Hon. Alhaji Musa Tarawally Deposits 1 Billion Old Leones into Kailahun District Multi-Purpose Cooperative Society Account as Promised.

During his visit to Kailahun to launch the Kailahun District Multi-Purpose Cooperative Society and celebrate Sierra Leone’s 65th Independence Anniversary, Hon. Alhaji Musa Tarawally pledged a kick-start capital of one billion old Leones as a free grant to the Kailahun Women’s Multi-Purpose Cooperative Society.

The grant is intended to help women in Kailahun who are facing economic hardship start businesses and create other income sources to support their households.

As of May 20th, 2026, the full sum of one billion old Leones has been deposited into the Kailahun District Multi-Purpose Cooperative Society account.

This morning we proudly recognise our brother Alicious Bessiama for his extraordinary work in Lalehun Penguia Chiefdom Kailahun District.

He was born into a community where electricity had never existed in living memory. From the age of four, he studied under dim kerosene lamps, walked long, rugged distances to school, and watched children abandon learning every evening because classrooms went dark. That burden never left him.

Through his organisation, Sun Rise Movement Sierra Leone 🌲, and with support from the European Union and Global Youth Mobilisation, Alicious turned pain into purpose. Today, solar power has been installed at the only two primary and secondary schools in Lalehun. For the first time, more than 200 children from Sierra Leone and even neighbouring Guinea can study safely at night under reliable electricity.

When a child finally sees light in their classroom for the first time, they do not just see electricity. They see possibility and bright future ahead. This is what true giving back looks like: transforming personal struggle into generational change.

Special shoutout to you, bro! Keep soaring the sky is only the beginning.

May your story inspire other youths to rise, to lead, and to emulate this shining example of service. When one person lifts a community, the ripple touches generations.

It is truly heartbreaking to wake up each morning only to hear of another young life lost in such a tragic manner.

Ensah Gbessay, fondly known as School Over once a celebrated model and local celebrity in Kailahun Town was allegedly struck dead by lightning in Liberia while using his phone.

We extend our deepest condolences to his bereaved family and friends as they mourn this painful loss.

May his gentle soul rest in perfect peace. 🙏

🚨 HEARTBREAK IN KENEMA: 6 Young Lives Tragically Lost in Moa River Drowning 💔
​A devastating cloud of grief and shock has completely engulfed the Kpayama Section of Kenema City. What was supposed to be a joyous birthday celebration at Kailondo Beach along the Moa River turned into an unimaginable catastrophe on Friday evening, 15th May 2026.
​Six vibrant young youths are feared dead, leaving families shattered and a whole community in deep mourning.
​According to official updates from SLP Media East, the victims have been identified as:
​Messie Wongo
​Mamie Sellu
​Mary Sannoh
​Mamie Sillah
​Joshua Orando Musa (The birthday celebrant who had just traveled from Makeni to celebrate with his friends)
​Foday Wai
​All six victims were close friends and residents of No. 3 Q-Line, by Foya Street, Kpayama Section, Kenema.
​🔹 The Heartbreaking Moment of Courage
​At around 5:30 p.m., the group was enjoying the water when tragedy struck. Messie Wongo began struggling against the fierce river currents.
​In a moment of ultimate love and bravery, her five friends did not hesitate they rushed into the water to save her. Tragically, none of them knew how to swim. The deadly and powerful undercurrents of the Moa River quickly overwhelmed them, sweeping all six away in a matter of seconds.

As investigation continues let keep our brothers and sisters in prayer.

We must always find time to grieve our dead.

Bockarie Sinneh Kamara, fondly known as Bombastic, was more than a brother he was a man of great potential, always present and ever willing to lend a helping hand to those in need.

We will forever remember his TikTok videos that brought joy and laughter to so many of us. His tragic passing in that gruesome accident is a painful reminder that we must all remain mindful of our safety first.

Too many of our relatives and friends have lost their lives at that very spot where our brother met his untimely end.

We pray that Almighty God forgives his sins and comforts his family and loved ones whose hearts have been shattered by this tragedy.

A loss to Joijoima and the entire Kailahun District 😢
