Residents of Neya Chiefdom in Falaba District are raising serious concerns over the deteriorating condition of a key bridge that serves as a vital link connecting communities and providing access to Kono District.

This bridge plays a crucial role in the daily lives of the people, supporting transportation, trade, education, and access to essential services. However, its current state poses a significant risk to commuters, motorists, and the general public. The situation becomes even more alarming during the rainy season, when movement across the bridge becomes extremely dangerous.

We, the people of this part of Falaba District, are respectfully appealing to the Falaba District Council to urgently intervene by reaching out to the central government and relevant authorities. Immediate attention is needed to assess, repair, or reconstruct this bridge to ensure the safety and well-being of the community.

This is not just an infrastructure issue it is a matter of public safety and development. We call on all stakeholders to act swiftly and responsibly to address this challenge and bring relief to the affected communities.

KOYA KOMBRA NETWORK FARMERS IN MAGBEMA CHIEFDOM RECEIVE FARM TOOLS SUPPORT.

_By Abraham Fofanah Janneh, Media Kombra Network Member, Radio Kolenten Kambia_

KOYA, Magbema Chiefdom Farmers under the Koya Kombra Network in Magbema Chiefdom have received assorted local farm tools to boost agricultural production this planting season.

The support package from Focus 1000 Kombra Network includes hoes, cutlasses, rakes, pickaxes, measuring tapes, shovels, and vegetable seeds. The intervention is being implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security with funding from the World Food Programme, WFP.

Focus 1000 Kambia Coordinator, Madam Isatu Kamara, said the tools are critical for farming activities, especially during planting. She explained that upon hearing about the project, Kombra Network applied and was successful.

“Kombra Network has been very active in agricultural activities, especially rice farming and vegetable growing across 5 communities in Tonko Limba, Gbinleh, and Magbema Chiefdoms. This support is meant to boost livelihood and promote nutrition, which is key to our health work in Kambia District and Sierra Leone,” Madam Kamara said.

She encouraged beneficiaries to take care of the tools and work hard to attract more support for other Kombra Network farmers in the district.

At the handover in Koya community, Kambia District Kombra Network Chairman, Reverend Augustine Samura Bangs, urged farmers to use the tools for their intended purpose to ensure a good harvest.

Community stakeholders and farmers described the donation as the first of its kind in Koya’s history. They pledged to maintain the tools and work hard for a successful farming season.

KAMBIA CHURCH THANKSGIVING HONOURS RETIRING MATRON AFTER 40 YEARS SERVICE

_By Abraham Fofanah Janneh, Radio Kolenten Kambia_

KAMBIA – New Life Ministries International Kambia Fellowship on Sunday 7th June 2026 held a thanksgiving service on Kukuna Road, Kambia 1, to honour the Minister in Charge, Reverend Sai Tarawalli, on her retirement from Kambia Government Hospital after over 40 years as a medical practitioner.

Reverend Tarawalli told worshippers the service was to praise God for His grace and protection throughout her career, which culminated in her serving as Matron of the district’s main referral hospital.

The event, themed "It Is Finished", drew congregations from other churches, clergymen and women, Christians and non-Christians from Kambia and beyond.

Samuel Junior Kamara read John 19:30. Preaching on the theme, Pastor Roi Tarawalli said Christ’s last words on the cross confirm God’s power to save humanity from sin and disobedience. He linked the scripture to Reverend Tarawalli’s life, describing her 40-year medical service as evidence of God’s faithfulness and protection.

The service, chaired by Sister Ernestine Bangura, climaxed with special thanksgiving, the unveiling of a big Bluetooth speaker for church use, and the unveiling of a portrait of Reverend Sai Tarawalli. It ended with prayers of blessing for Reverend Tarawalli and the church membership.
