Salone News Hub has been intimated about the transferee and deployment of the Guinean Armed Forces (GAF) in a bid to justify claims of ownership of the territory at the newly constructed military barracks in Yenga, Kailahun District.
The report suggests that the 150 military personnel who crossed into the Sierra Leonean territory today, Thursday, 4th April 2024, were seen at 0900 hrs engaged in a robust military parade at the Yenga Community putting to stop normal activities including the free movement of people during the period under review.
The parade section according to our informant included, jogging and dancing with emotional chanting at the said community.
The battalion, we have learnt will intensify searching of travellers plying the route to Guinea. Such an approach will hinder cross border trade and by extension discourage bilateral relationship between the two countries stated in the Mano River Union Protocol for easy movement and people.

Teachers in Segwema,Kailahun District have complained of starvation as a result of none availability of salary at the Sewegma Community Bank.
According to Musa Gogra, one of the affected teachers, they have not been paid for the month of February and as a result are starving with their family members.
Musa lamented that when February ended they went to the bank hoping that they would receive their salary but were left in disappointment when they received the news that their salary was not ready. โ€œOur salary is minimal as teachers. Before the month ends, we would have eaten everything and depend solely on another loan to survive the month.โ€
He continued that the delay has brought a lot of embarrassment to them.
According to a source who spoke to this journalist on anonymity, the delay is as a result of the failure of government to credit Segwema Community Bank at the Bank of Sierra Leone.
An insider has, however, revealed that, the delayed salary may be paid today after 12pm at the Community Bank.
Efforts to communicate with the manager proved futile.

As an aftermath of the economic hardship, many Sierra Leoneans are looking for the slightest opportunity to make money. As the adage says, "A drowning man will clutch at a straw,โ€ so are many Sierra Leoneans of all walks of life turning to SUPER ADVERTIS to make money. Super advertis is an online promotion service platform based on task commission.
*It has been alleged that a similar company known as SMART AI, which was operating in Liberia, scammed librarians BILLIONS of DOLLARS online.* Many Liberians then blamed president Weah for the mishap. In fact, it is alleged that it was one of the reasons for his lost in the recent election.
Liberians who are aware of the advent of the online platform to Sierra Leone are now admonishing Sierra Leoneans not to fall victims. One Liberian wrote this on Facebook โ€œSmart AI now in Sierra Leone, they changed their name from smart AI to SUPER ADVERTIS, see how people are working online in sirrealeone๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ people of sirrealeone please be careful ooo, people in LIBERIA ๐Ÿ‡ฑ๐Ÿ‡ท๐Ÿ‡ฑ๐Ÿ‡ท are VICTIMS of such a program like that. I juh Laugh ๐Ÿ˜„๐Ÿ˜„๐Ÿ˜„๐Ÿ˜„๐Ÿ˜„๐Ÿ˜„๐Ÿ˜„๐Ÿ˜„."

Thousands of Liberians have fallen prey and lost millions of Liberian and United States dollars across the country to an online platform identified as โ€œSMART AI Limitedโ€ through a scam.
Late Sunday, August 13, 2023, according to some of the victims, several citizens, who were doing the online business with the platform, realized that the company had shut down and they could not access their various accounts opened through Lonestar Cell MTN and Orange Liberia.
But prior to the closure of the platform, thousands of Liberians who suffered from the scam game explained that the activity is a Crypto Currency business which deals with online marketing through Orange and Lonestar GSM companies.
They added that the company had a six-digit deposit code with Orange Liberia, 399477, while the Lonestar deposit number is 0880667847 with a name, Pah Leah attached with a few other numbers.
Accordingly, a few citizens won and cashed out some cash, while others refused to cash out theirs and kept increasing their incomes, with the belief that their monies would not have been tampered with.
It is said that the General Manager of the company is not from the United States, contrary to SMART AIโ€™s claims, but rather he is from Mexico as proved by the cell number, +505-487-7376.
However, after the company shockingly shut down, many of the victims blamed the Liberian government for its alleged failure to protect its citizens from a scam online business. They stated that the governmentโ€™s alleged failure has caused a huge loss of millions of dollars for its people.
According to the latest fraud victims, there was no reason to have doubted the legitimacy of SMART AI on ground that the company was operating through Orange and Lonestar, including the display of a notarized certificate believed to have been obtained from the Liberia Business Registry (LBR).
The citizens also indicated that they all got convinced to continue working with the platform for the fact that they could still see their monies in their accounts, while advertising online, sharing links to encourage others to join, and they were promised both a part-time and full-time employment status along with a promise to travel to the US.
In a more frustrating situation, the victims, in separate tones disclosed that some of them had deposited L$500,000, others thousands of United States dollars, crying that the monies were intended for their childrenโ€™s school fees, markets, and were savings from social clubs and churches.

For the second time in two days, commercial bikers have protested on the streets of Kenema against the use of crash helmets by pillions.
The detestation by the bikers is pointed at the unhygienic use of the same helmet by multiple pillions and its high cost on the market.
The bikers say they will not render their services on Friday and Saturday,1st and 2nd September respectively and that they will not abide by such dictate.
The detestation comes after the authorities imposed the mandatory use of crash helmets by both the riders and pillions effective 1st September this year.
This law also affects private bike riders.
However,Expo Media Network reports that there is an ongoing negotiation aimed at looking into the concerns of the riders.
Findings made by this media highlight the aforementioned, as *some of the infections that can be carried by sweat:*
1.MRSA
Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus is a super bug that can cause hard-to-treat infections on different parts of the body. It is resistant to many of the commonly available antibiotics. It can cause sores and boils on the skin and can even cause infections in the bloodstream, lungs, or the urinary tract. It can easily spread through contact and so, one can easily catch it through someone who has it on his skin.
2.Hepatitis B Virus
Though this remains debated, research has revealed that Hepatitis B virus can be transmitted through sweat. Usually, it is believed that HBV is transmitted through open wounds and mucous membranes but a study on Olympic wrestlers pointed out that eleven per cent of the participants had virus components in sweat, similar to the levels found in blood. The study was published in British Journal of Sports Medicine.
3.Viral Infections like Cold, Flu
Though sweat itself does not contain these viruses, it can get onto the skin through nose-rubbing, sneezing or breathing. If the sweat becomes a carrier of the virus, it can easily affect anybody who gets in touch with it.

An unknown man alleged to be a thief by youths in the Samai Town community yesterday Sunday 13th 2023 escaped death by crawling through a tunnel.
Giving an account of the incident, Mohamed Koroma a resident of the said community revealed that he was caught stealing an empty polyethylene drum (rubber drum) belonging to a resident of that community.
Mohamed said, the unidentified thief then dropped the drum and took to his heels.
The unidentified man, according to Mohamed, leaped into a drainage that had a narrow hollow leading to the other end of the road like a squirrel.
It was further revealed that the youths pelted stones to ensure he comes out, but he instead crawled to the other end of the tunnel.
They say, โ€œthere is light at the end of every tunnelโ€ but in this case, there was fire at the end of the tunnel as irate youths set fire to ensure that he comes out or remain there and die. The death fearing thief could not come out, he instead tried putting out the fire.
Fortunately, a senior journalist alerted the police, who immediately came to his rescue.
Upon reaching the scene, the police signalled to him, and he came out at once.
One of the police officers' life was endangered while trying to take the suspect to the Kenema police station as youths pelted stones and hit him with sticks.
The matter is under investigation.

It has been alleged that Bockarie Keifala resident of 41 Combema Road in Kenema has set his parents' house at the same address ablaze for his share of about NLE 11,000 (eleven million old leones) which was paid for an office space at his father's house.
According to one Mohamed, the incident emanated when FOCUS 1000, a Non-Governmental Organization recently paid for an office space at one of the houses belonging to Mr and Mrs Keifala(parents of Bockarie).
It is believed that Bockarie had demanded for an amount which the parents refused to offer him, as a result, the source said he had threatened to set the house on fire.
The source further claimed that he saw Bockarie with his baggage and later followed by a huge smoke that ascended from the house(different from the one rented by the NGO) at 11am today.
The youths in the neighbourhood were fighting the inferno before the advent of the Kenema Fire Force.
The firefighters were able to put out the fire. There were no casualties. However, all the household properties belonging to the blind house owner and families were lost in the incident.
It is believed that the alleged arsonist is a frustrated master's holder who was deported from America and has recently lost his job in Freetown.

Minority Rights Group International (MRG)which is an international human rights organisation, headquartered in London,
in collaboration with the Media Reform Coordinating Group(MRCG) has on the 11th June 2023, visited the Amputees' camp in Kenema with the aim of getting first-hand information about their plights during and after the 'bloody civil war' in Sierra Leone.
The amputees were also asked about solutions to their problems.
The National Coordinator of MRCG, doctor Francis Sowa elaborated that the team, which comprised journalists from Senegal, Ghana and Sierra Leone, was there to hear their stories in connection to their ordeals during the civil war and how they have been living their lives since the end of the war as well as bringing out the areas they would need support.
He said, their stories would be published internationally with the hope of soliciting help from NGOs, humanitarians, and governments.
It was a tearful moment as journalists physically wept while the victims were narrating the circumstances that led to their amputation.
The chairman of the Amputees in Kenema district, Dominic Braima thanked the journalists for thinking of them. He added that the journalists were the first group of people who have met them to know about their plights in many years.
Some of the supports they requested include;skill training, feeding, clothing, microfinance to start businesses, agricultural productivity among others.
The team presented bags of rice and fiscal cash to the war victims.

Alhaji Mustapha Mansaray, acting principal for Government Senior Secondary School in Ngiema Dama, Kenema District who also doubles as an associate lecturer of Eastern Technical University of Sierra Leone has had his quarter burnt down by unknown individuals at 1200hrs on the 23rd of April 2023.
Alex Alpha, a 12-year-old pupil who was at the house at the time of the incident revealed that, the arsonists whose faces were masked broke into the house at night and had his hands tied and mouth sealed.
Alpha unfolded that, they then told him that they were there to kill the principal, whom they alleged had informed the government that the people of the township were APC supporters and that their children must be deprived of writing this year's WASSCE.
He said they then took him out of the house before setting it ablaze. He continued that he later informed the neighbours, who helped to prevent the fire from burning the nearby houses.

According to the principal of the school, he was informed about the incident at midnight.
He revealed that at the start of this month, he asked someone to do entries of WASSCE candidates for his school and that he was given admission notices, photo album and confirmation of entries and that he later distributed the admission notices to all the 370 candidates.
He said after the closure of the portal system he was called by one Mr Torlie, worker of WAEC and was informed that only four of his candidates went through the portal system and was advised to travel to Freetown, to seek redress.
He went on to say that all the schools that had similar problem provided their information and that he was yesterday asked by the DD to send the total figure of his candidates plus other information.
The principal said while awaiting the issue to be resolved, he was unfortunately informed about the arson at midnight.
The matter has been reported to the Kenema Police Station for investigation.
