ππ WHAT IS PILE
Piles are swollen veins in the re**um or a**s that can cause a lot of discomfort.
They come in two types: internal, which are inside the re**um, and external, which form under the skin around the a**s.
Both types can cause pain, itching, and bleeding, but external ones are usually more painful.
ππWHAT CAUSES HEMORRHOIDS?π€·πΎββοΈ
- Straining during bowel movements is a big one, as it puts extra pressure on the veins in the re**um.
- Sitting for long periods, especially on the toilet, can also contribute.
- Other causes include chronic constipation or diarrhea, pregnancy, and being overweight

- Pain or discomfort, especially when sitting or passing stool.
- Swelling or lumps around the a**s that may be tender to the touch.
- Bleeding during bowel movements, which is often noticed on toilet paper.

ππ WHAT TO DO IF YOU HAVE HEMORRHOID?
Read this slowly
- Visit a clinic
- Take prescribed medicines from yπΌur doctor as recommended.
- Very important, try to avoid straining during bowel movements! If you not notice a hard stool stop, donβt finish.
- Drink plenty of water and eat fiber-rich foods like fruits, vegetables, and whole grains (corn) can help make stool softer and easier to pass.
- Fiber supplements can also be helpful if your diet is not providing enough fiber.
- Take warm baths or sitz baths to relieve pain and reduce swelling.
- Soak your behind in warm water for 10β15 minutes can provide significant relief.
- Use over-the-counter creams or ointments to help ease pain and itching.
- Hemorrhoid creams containing hydrocortisone can reduce inflammation.
- Apply cold compresses or ice packs to the area to reduce swelling and numb the pain.
ππ HOW DO YOU PREVENT HEMORRHOIDS IN THE FUTURE?
Itβs quite simple actually, the key is to avoid straining during bowel movements and to keep your stools soft
- Eat a high-fiber diet. If you're in Nigeria, I am talking about beans, okra, unripe plantain, sweet potatoes, and vegetables like ugu and ewedu. Whole grains such as brown rice and local cereals like guinea corn and millet
- Stay hydrated
- Exercise regularly this helps keep the digestive system moving smoothly
- Go to the bathroom as soon as you feel the urge, holding it in can make stools harder to pass
ππ WHAT IF ALL FAILS?
While hemorrhoids can often be managed with home care, however, many times it is better to seek medical advice.
If you experience severe pain, excessive bleeding, or hemorrhoids that donβt improve with home care and lifestyle changes, it is time to see your doctor.
