International Youth Day Theme: "Transforming Food Systems: Youth Innovation for Human and Planetary Health".
Hello young change-makers and future leaders, as we celebrate International Youth Day! This year's theme, "Transforming Food Systems: Youth Innovation for Human and Planetary Health," highlights the crucial role that young people play in building sustainable and healthy food systems for our world.
As we reflect on the significance of this theme, Let's be reminded of a powerful verse from the Bible that depicts the essence of productive youthfulness. Proverbs 20:29 states, "The glory of young men is their strength, gray hair the splendor of the old." This verse encapsulates the idea that youthfulness is not just about physical vigor but also about harnessing that strength to create positive change and make a difference in the world.
Today, we stand at a pivotal moment where the innovative ideas and energy of young people are needed more than ever to address the challenges facing our food systems. It is through the creativity, passion, and dedication of youth that we can drive sustainable practices, promote food security, and protect our planet's health.
I urge each and every one of you to embrace your role as agents of change and to use your voices to advocate for a more inclusive and sustainable food system. Your ideas, actions, and innovations have the power to shape a better future for generations to come.
Let us come together, united in purpose and determination, to transform our food systems in Sierra Leone, from dependence to self-production, from importation to exportation(in abundance), for the well-being of both humanity and the planet. Together, we can make a lasting impact and create a world where all individuals have access to nutritious, safe, and sustainably produced food.
Happy International Youth Day to all the inspiring young leaders. Let's continue to work hand in hand towards a brighter and more sustainable future!
