SWASAL Northern Region: Update on assult complain received and swift steps taken

Tuesday, 29th July, 2025.

Upon the receipt of an official complain from one of our SWASAL Northern Region members, Adams Lilson Koroma, SWASAL-North in collaboration with the North East Region Football Association (NERFA) have successfully mediated the matter involving our colleague, Adams Lilson Koroma, and the management of Urban Stars concerning the alleged attack and threatening remarks made against him.

Both parties have agreed to reconcile and maintain a peaceful and professional relationship moving forward, with the full consent and approval of our colleague, Adams Lilson Koroma.

While SWASAL remains committed to protecting sportsmanship we wish to inform members of the sports family particularly in the Northern Region to desist from all forms of violence in sports against journalists and other stakeholders of sports.

Mohamed Adam Junior Kamara: The SWASAL-North Golden Jubilee Member making his mark in Magburaka, Tonkolili District‼️

SWASAL-North takes pride in showcasing the bold and visionary leadership of one of Golden Jubilee members, Mohamed Adam Junior Kamara, the Station Manager of the Sierra Leone Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC) in Magburaka, Tonkolili District.

Kamara, a young media professional and committed journalist, demonstrated his impactful approach to journalism through his comprehensive reporting from Magburaka and the surrounding of Tonkolili District which has been instrumental in transforming lives and shedding light on key local issues.

Recently, Kamara had the opportunity to meet with United States Ambassador to Sierra Leone, Bryan David Hunt, and shared with that he hosted the US Ambassador on a dedicated radio program aimed at raising public awareness about the US Embassy’s activities and initiatives in Sierra Leone.

"Beyond the radio show, our conversation evolved into a profound and inspiring discussion that left me motivated to continue my selfless services and dedication as a station manager," he told SWASAL North.

As one of the youngest station managers in his district, Kamara's encounter with Ambassador Hunt will help him to stay consistent on his mission to making a meaningful difference through his work.

Monthly Meetings Resumed: this afternoon at our secretariat on #18 Teko Road, Makeni City, cross section of our SWASAL-North members and an affiliate met and chatted the path forward towards achieving plans and manifesto promises of our executive headed by Chairperson Alusine Rehme Wilson, and Secretary General Umaro Saidu Turay.

Supported by the membership, our executive which was duly unanimously re-elected unopposed on November 30 last year is on the verge to putting together groundbreaking proposals and initiating long planned projects plus emerging ones in the coming months throughout their tenure.

In collaboration with our patent body, SLAJ, Sports Writers Association of Sierra Leone - Swasal National is setting the stage for others to emulate.

Supporters of the 2025 SLAJ Election Presidential both from the print and electronics media will be regrouping to play in the same teams named after the candidates.

The naming of the teams, print & electronics after the two aspirants is not only showing tolerance and togetherness among members of SLAJ but also a show that the association's interest is above all else.
