Hearty Congratulations to one of our SWASAL-North colleagues, of the Sierra Leone Broadcasting Cooperation - on his successful graduation with a Law Degree (LLB), from the University of Sierra Leone.

Mohamed Lamin has been one of the finest Sports journalists from Sierra Leone impacting lives through his reportage on Sports and other beats.

His latest academic achievement do not only add more feathers to his educational cap having previously earned his first degree from but reflects the commitment, determination and hardwork our SWASAL members from the region are putting in, under the rebrand manifesto.

On behalf of the leadership of the Sports Writers Association of Sierra Leone led by President Sahr Morris Jr., our Regional Chairperson Alusine Rehme Wilson, executive and membership, we wish our brother all the best.

Hearty congratulations to our Acting Deputy Organizing Secretary of SWASAL-North, Mr. Ishmail M Samura and his wife on their successful weeding this evening at Madina, Tonko Limba, Kambia District.

Mr. Samura is one of our Sports Writers Association of Sierra Leone Golden Jubelie members from the North who has been verily dedicated to his work as a sports journalist.

Over his successful weeding, our executive and membership wish him the best in his marital journey.

Thanks to our Acting Organizing Secretary Kabia Alfred, Head Coach Augustine Prosperity, and other SWASAL Northern Region colleagues for the representation.

On behalf of our Sports Writers Association of Sierra Leone - Swasal National President Sahr Morris Jr., our SWASAL-North Chairperson, Alusine Rehme Wilson delivered the president's speech at the first-ever Sierra Leone Reporters Union (SLRU) Annual General Meeting held at the Garden State Hall in Makeni.

While we dove out hearts for our Regional Chairperson's bravery and leadership shown at the occasion, we send our speediest recovery wishes to our National president who's not feeling quite bright.

CONGRATULATORY MESSAGE

The Sierra Leone Sports Writers Association(SWASAL) North wishes to extend its warmest congratulations to Mr. Alfred Zico Kabia, a proud and dedicated member of our association, on his recent appointment to serve as Match Commissioner for Match Week Three of the Leone Rock Premier League.

Mr. Kabia will officiate the fixture between Old Edwardians and Mighty Blackpool on Sunday, 23rd November 2025, at the Sierra Leone Football Association Academy.

This appointment is a testament to his professionalism, commitment, and growing contribution to football administration in Sierra Leone. We are confident that he will execute his duties with the highest level of integrity and excellence.

We wish him all the best as he takes on this important responsibility.

In the late night hours of Wednesday, November 19, 2025 cross section of our SWASAL-North membership met today at our regional secretariat on #18 Teko road, Makeni city for an Emergency General Meeting to chat the way forward of making our association more sustainable.

Key among our discussions centered on the preparation for our 2025 Annual General Meeting scheduled for November, 28-29 in Bo, membership successful application for the AIPS Media 1924 cards through the national secretariat, improving membership welfare, strengthening our disciplinary actions, and supporting the Makeni 2025 SLRU Annual General Meeting.

Similarly, we heightened our preparation for the upcoming wedding ceremony of our Acting Deputy Organizing Secretary, Ishmail M Samura on November 26, 2025, and also congratulated the poll of Sports Writers Association of Sierra Leone members who have been appointed to serve in diverse roles as Regional Media representatives, other Media committee members, and as match commissioners in the national top-tier leagues.

Our emergency meeting was climaxed by one our colleagues, Kamara Musa Santigie's call back to our memberships for supporting his adventure with the National Men's U-17 team as the SLFA Media Officer attached to the team.

Memorable moments for one of our SWASAL-North colleagues, Abdul Karim Kargbo (AKK), as he joined other soccer enthusiasts at the Sheridan Suite in the United Kingdom, for the 2025 Manchester FA Grassroots Football Awards💚🤍💙.

Icing his memorable Friday, November 14, 2025 moment in Manchester, Kargbo who's one of our Sports Writers Association of Sierra Leone Golden Jubelie members from the Northern also had his hands on the U21 Champions Trophy.

In our region's report at our last Triannial Congress held at the prestigious Wusum Hotel, our Executive led by Alusine Rehme Wilson, anticipated for more exposure for our membership, and behold our hardworking colleagues like AKK, are putting in the much needed work to actualizing our current executive's commitments which aligns with the National Executive's agenda rebrand SWASAL.

Such a memorable, bitter-sweet SWASAL North weekend💚🤍💙🌎

Over the weekend, cross section of our SWASAL-North members who attended our recent monthly general meeting held on Sunday, October 26 at our regional secretariat on #18 Teko Road did not only delebrated on a range of issues pertinent to our association's continued growth and sustainable development but also presented the burial purse to one of us, Mohamed Mikay Kamara who recently lost his son.

The association's support to our bereaved colleague reflects our region's steadfastness over membership welfare which has since been one of the many priorities the current Sports Writers Association of Sierra Leone - Swasal Northern Region executive led by our Chairperson, Alusine Rehme Wilson.

In another development, we also celebrated as usual, one of us, Kamara Musa Santigie, the Sierra Leone National U17 SLFA Media Officer, who's fresh from the Malian city of Bamako from his career high as a sports journalist.

Kamara who attended the meeting to thank everyone at SWASAL North for the mentorship and support over his career high, was presented to the sports family by our executive in the presence of our Ag. Vice Chairperson Fatorma T-Jay Frederickson, Ag. Deputy Organizing Secretary, Ishmail M Samura, SWASAL North Head coach, Augustine Prosperity and his Assistant, other members including Joseph Sam Turay, Mohamed Turay, and affiliates, thanking them for believing in the impacts we we continue to make as sports journalists and SWASAL Northern Region members at large.

Subject: Condolence Message on the Loss of a your Child.

The Sports Writers Association of Sierra Leone – Northern Region (SWASAL North) is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of the beloved child of our colleague, Mohamed I. Kamara, who also serves as the Head of Media and Marketing for the Bombali District Football Association (BDFA).

This heartbreaking news has touched every member of our fraternity. On behalf of the executive and entire membership of SWASAL North, we extend our heartfelt condolences to Mr. Kamara and his family during this period of great loss and sorrow.

We stand with our colleague in this difficult moment and pray that Almighty Allah grants the departed soul eternal rest and comforts the bereaved family. May Allah also bless them with strength, patience, and, in due time, the joy of another child.

Our thoughts and prayers remain with the Kamara family.

Earlier today, cross section of our SWASAL-North members including executive members showed up in style at the naming ceremony of our former Chairperson and current National Vice President of the Sports Writers Association of Sierra Leone (SWASAL), Mr. Sheku Saccoh Turay's new born.

During the event, our Chairperson, Mr. Alusine Rehme Wilson, our Secretary General, Mr. Umaro Saidu Turay, Acting Vice Chairperson, Mr. Fatorma T-Jay Frederickson, the Acting Financial Secretary and Acting Organizing Secretary II, Mr. Mohamed Bah and Mr. Ishmail M Samura, our SWASAL North Head coach, Mr. Augustine Prosperity, and other members including Mr. Bashiru Barrie and Mr. Mohamed Turay on behalf of the membership in the north and our Sports Writers Association of Sierra Leone - Swasal National President, Mr. Sahr Morris Jr. presented our routine essential items and cash support to our National Vice President and his wife.

The gesture was warmly welcomed by the Turay family whose marital journey SWASAL North has since been part of.

On behalf of the leadership, we extend our sincere thanks and appreciation to our SWASAL North members at home and abroad for their continued show of commitment, dedication and team spirit to one another, as our administration continues to carve the sustainable development path for our elite sports journalists association.
