CONTINUATION

The highest score an impressive 346 T-score was achieved by Mansaray Kadijah Yawa Joe, a female student from Dele Nursery & Preparatory School in Wellington. I offer her my heartfelt congratulations.

Congratulations to International College of Makeni Primary School, which topped the charts with a 100% pass rate and the highest average aggregate score (332.39). Other excellent performers include Romans International Academy, Modern Academy School of Excellence, Therenisa Memorial Primary School in Bo, and Shalom Ville Schools.

WAEC Releases 2025 NPSE Results Early — Over 78% of Pupils Pass
Reported by the Birch Association for Journalists (BAJ)

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has officially released the 2025 National Primary School Examination (NPSE) results to the Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education (MBSSE), delivering the outcome significantly ahead of schedule. This year’s release on July 17 marks a notable improvement in turnaround time, arriving nearly a month earlier than in 2024, when results were published on August 12. This early release is expected to accelerate the school placement process and improve education planning.

According to the latest analysis, a total of 171,112 pupils registered for the 2025 NPSE, including 88,494 girls and 82,618 boys—an increase of more than 6,000 candidates compared to last year. Of these, 165,341 pupils sat at least one paper. However, 5,771 pupils were marked absent, a concerning rise in absenteeism that is currently under review by education authorities.

Performance statistics indicate that 128,766 pupils—66,371 girls and 62,395 boys—scored at or above the official cutoff mark of 230, yielding a national pass rate of 78.2%. While boys recorded a slightly higher success rate (78.5%) compared to girls (77.9%), more girls participated in and passed the examination overall.

The early release and strong turnout reflect growing national engagement with foundational education, as Sierra Leone continues its push for quality learning outcomes at the primary level.

Senior APC Official Urges Support for Dr. Ibrahim Bangura Ahead of 2028 Elections

Freetown, Sierra Leone – A senior member of the All People’s Congress (APC) National Advisory Council has issued a strong appeal to party members, urging them to make a responsible and strategic decision as the party prepares for the 2028 general elections.

The official, who chose to remain anonymous due to internal party protocols, expressed concern over what he described as a dangerously sentimental approach to selecting the APC’s next flagbearer. He warned that several aspirants currently vying for the position are burdened with political baggage that could significantly damage the party’s chances before the elections even begin.

“Sierra Leone does not need another compromised candidate. The APC does not need another experiment. What we need – now more than ever – is a leader whose record is unblemished, whose integrity is intact, and whose name evokes confidence, not controversy,” the official stated.

Referencing past election defeats in 2018 and 2023, the official admitted that the party underestimated the electorate’s demand for accountability. He stressed that relying on internal popularity and party loyalty over national trust led to those losses and warned against repeating the same mistake in 2028.

Among all current aspirants, the official singled out Dr. Ibrahim Bangura as the most suitable candidate to lead the APC into the next election cycle. According to him, Dr. Bangura’s clean track record, absence of corruption allegations, and reputation for discipline and vision make him the ideal flagbearer.

“Dr. Bangura is not entangled in tribal politics or old rivalries. He has no skeletons in his cupboard and no score to settle. He brings to the table what this moment demands: vision, discipline, and a reputation that has stood the test of time.”

He further warned that the delegates emerging from the upcoming lower-level elections must recognize the seriousness of their role. Their choice, he emphasized, will either revive the party or seal its fate in opposition.

“Let us not confuse popularity within party circles with electability in the national arena. Let us not allow emotional alliances to override political logic. Let us not mortgage the future of this party for short-term loyalty.”

The statement called on the APC to rally behind a candidate who can be trusted by the nation and lead with credibility and integrity.

“We need a leader who can look the people in the eye and say, ‘I have nothing to hide.’ That is how we begin to rebuild trust, not just within the APC, but with the millions of Sierra Leoneans looking for hope.”

The official concluded by calling for unity and political maturity, stating that the decision before the party is critical not only for its survival but for the future of the nation.

“Dr. Ibrahim Bangura is not just a good candidate; he is the right candidate. And if we are serious about returning to State House, then we must rally behind a leader whose credibility is unquestionable and whose integrity is intact. The APC must rise above personality cults and internal factions. This is a time for courage. This is a time to choose a leader not just for the party but for the nation. The choice is ours, but the consequences will be for all.”

🇱🇷 Liberia Football Association Eyes Leone Stars Coach Mohamed Kallon with Lucrative Offer

Reports emerging from Liberia Football News indicate that the Liberia Football Association (LFA) is making a bold move to secure Mohamed Kallon, the current head coach of Sierra Leone's national team, as the next manager of the Lone Stars.

According to sources, the LFA is reportedly offering a mouthwatering $40,000 per month to entice the Sierra Leonean football legend to switch allegiances and take charge of Liberia’s national team.

Currently, Kallon earns $10,000 per month under his contract with the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA). Despite his recent request for an increase to $20,000, the SLFA is reportedly only willing to raise his pay to $15,000 monthly — significantly lower than Liberia’s offer.

While the Liberian deal remains on the table, insiders suggest that Kallon’s deep-rooted passion for his home country is still holding him back — for now. Whether this loyalty will outweigh financial considerations in the long run remains to be seen.

This development has sparked fresh debates among football fans in both countries, as the race to secure top coaching talent intensifies across West Africa.

*REPORT:* Following the terror attack at the Gush Etzion junction — carried out by two officers from the Palestinian police who had returned three months earlier from completing their training in Qatar:

The Palestinian Authority has launched an investigation under pressure from Israeli security officials. As part of the probe, all members of the same training cohort who returned from Qatar three months ago will be reviewed.

Sources familiar with the details estimate that during their time in Qatar, Hamas operatives may have made contact with those Palestinian police trainees and encouraged them — in one way or another — to carry out attacks.

For this reason, Israeli officials have pushed for a thorough review of all individuals who trained alongside the attackers, to ensure there are no additional “rogue” individuals who might also pose a threat. (Doron Kadosh)
