SLFA launches transparent fixture draw system for Leone Rock & Women’s Premier Leagues
The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) has officially conducted the fixture draws for both the Male and Female Premier Leagues at its Secretariat at Kingtom, Freetown.
Speaking at the event, SLFA President Babadi Kamara said the Association has adopted a new digital system to manage the fixture process and league operations, designed to ensure fairness and eliminate manipulation.
"We would not allow match officials to determine the outcome of matches. We are going to be strict on that," he said.
The President added: "When a team gets relegated, the management should know it’s because their team is not good enough. When a team wins a trophy, let them be proud that they really worked hard for it."
He described the day as 'one of the best in the history of Sierra Leone football', calling it a milestone moment in the country’s sporting development.
"Over the years, we have had a lot of issues regarding fixtures and their outcomes. Last year’s pattern was not okay," President BBD explained.
"This is the process we shall be using going forward; a system so unique that it cannot be manipulated."
The SLFA President said he had closely monitored the Systems Administrator Sanpha Hassan Kamara who is administering the new system and has confidence in its reliability.
"I have been able to monitor him [Sanpha] who is administering the system, and I now understand how it works."
He also mentioned the strict new system for the upcoming season, including tighter control of player registration and improved referee management.
"Once the transfer window closes, no team will have the opportunity to register a player again. This is to prevent the many issues surrounding player transfers. No team will be favoured.
"We have trained referees nationwide, and fitness tests will soon be conducted in Bo. Even match commissioners will be monitored; if they change a report, the system will detect it.
President Babadi Kamara stressed that SLFA’s goal is to create a fair and competitive league environment that promotes peace, integrity, and unity.
"We want a level playing field for every team because that’s what will guarantee us peace and unity. If someone wants to cheat, they have no business in football," he concluded.
Adding to the President’s remarks, Sanpha Hassan Kamara outlined how the new digital platform will improve league management, meeting international standards.
"Now it’s about timelines. This is not just a digital system but a global one. FIFA now tracks whatever we do through this system. When you set an end date, the league cannot go beyond it."
He confirmed that the Leone Rock Premier League 2025/26 season will feature 18 clubs, playing 34 weeks; 17 home and 17 away matches. The season will kick off on November 8, 2025, and conclude on June 27, 2026.
