My fellow citizens, I greet you all in the most revered way, Asalamu Alaikum Warahmatullahi Ta Ala Wabatakatuhu. Today, I speak to you in my capacity as the Mayor of Banjul, as a mother, as a sister and as a friend. But most importantly, as a Gambian.

I listened to the president's statement in Brikama last night with shock, disappointment and concern. It is my strong conviction that the president's statement against H.E Ousainou Darboe, is unfortunate, untimely and unpresidential. H.E Daboe's contribution to the advancement of Gambia's democracy is unquestionable. He has dedicated his entire life to serving this nation.

In this country, we live as one people. And this we must continue to nurture. We must never allow politics to divide us such that we would wish death upon each other. As political leaders, it is important to always be mindful of statements we make especially at public gatherings. POLICE INVESTIGATE MYSTERIOUS DEATHS LINKED TO ALLEGED DRUG ABUSE [PILLS & KUSH] IN PALMA RIMA, BANJUL, AND BARRA

Date: June 23, 2024

The Kotu Police are investigating the death of 26-year-old Aja Majula Hydara from Latrikunda German, following an incident at Dune Night Club in Palma Rima on Friday, June 21, 2024.

Preliminary investigations indicate that Hydara experienced severe reactions after consuming an alleged drug and was rushed to Kanifing General Hospital, where she subsequently died.

The police have arrested 23-year-old T**i Camara from Latrikunda German, who is currently in custody assisting with the investigation.

Similarly, Banjul Police are investigating the sudden death of 20-year-old Alhagie Darboe from Banjul. Reports suggest that Darboe consumed an alleged drug at a club, leading to his untimely death at Ndemban Clinic. Authorities are actively pursuing the arrest of one Balanding, who is implicated in selling the drug to Darboe.

In a related incident, Barra Police are investigating the death of 26-year-old Bubacarr Sarr from Barra, who allegedly consumed Kush, leading him to self-harm by cutting off his own tongue, resulting in his death at Essau District Hospital on the same day.

In light of these tragic events, the Office of the IGP and the entire police leadership earnestly request public support, particularly from parents and youth groups, in the fight against drug abuse and trafficking. Strengthened cooperation and coordination between the police and the public are essential to restoring the safety and security we all yearn for.

THE GAMBIA NAVY INTERCEPTS A MIGRANT BOAT

The Gambia Navy on a joint routine patrol with the Spanish Guardia Civil intercepted migrants on the 'Back-way' journey to Europe on Saturday 22 June.
The migrants were safely escorted to Banjul port .

Another kush drug incident at essau health centre report by doctor jallow.

Story. Baboucarr sarr of barra village age 27 YRS old was escorted to essau district health centre with his taugue bleeding as a resault of its cuts when he attempted to commit su***de after smoking drug called KUSS. He is presently admitted at the hospital for medical theatement.

In another development the youths of Njayen Sanjal village in nbr vandalised the police station at the village and went away with the station diary and WiFi router. The incident occurrd last night when Mr mamud sowe a sheapard by profession shake hands with mustapha Secka who is a native of the village and later mustapha Secka realised that his privet part (p***s) was no more. He went to report the matter to the police station where he met w/ sgt. AWA KINTEH as the duty officer. He explained his story and was directed to report the the healthcentre where a checkup was done and he realised the the P***s was coming back gradually. He was then warned by the police officer to go home and return after 30 munites. Upon his returned he confirmed that the P***s was still come back to normal. Suddenly an angry mob arrived to demand the suspect from the police. This the officer vehemently denied and it resulted to the vanderlisation of the police station. Meanwhile the piu are attached to maintain calm and the personels are warned to be reporting to farrafenni station. Till calm is restored.
