Mahmoud Ali Youssouf
on the Ocassion of the
Second Africa Climate
Summit (ACS2)
Fellow Africans, Global Partners, and Champions of Our Planet.
On behalf of the African Union Commission, I extend a profound welcome to all delegates to the Second Africa Climate Summit (ACS2) that AUC is convening, hosted in Addis Ababa from 8–10 September 2025, by the Government of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia and under the visionary leadership of H.E. Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed.
This Summit marks a decisive moment for Africa to unite in pursuit of climate justice, resilient development, and a sustainable future for generations to come- directly advancing our continental blueprint, Agenda 2063: "The Africa We Want."
The inaugural Africa Climate Summit in Nairobi (2023) amplified Africa’s collective voice on the global stage. Building on this momentum, ACS2, with its theme “Accelerating Global Climate Solutions and Financing for Africa’s Resilient and Green Development,” should promote the initiatives from the previous Summit. Addressing Africa’s climate finance gap is essential, as it impedes our development efforts amid pressing challenges.
As the Chairperson of the African Union Commission, I invite you to join us in Addis Ababa to build our continent and pave the way to COP30. We aim to demonstrate Africa's technological solutions, where ecology and nature-based solutions drive the economy, and resilience becomes our legacy.
Together, we will ensure ACS2 delivers more than declarations: It will catalyze investments, policies, and hope.
