Kavi is a baby elephant who lost his mother to poachers, fell into despair and refused to eat meat. She was hurt, trembling, and alone. Her leg was twisted, her fur dirty, her eyes full of pain. But when Josh knelt beside her, she didn’t run. She just looked at him — as if asking for help.
He took off his jacket and gently covered her, keeping her warm while waiting for animal control. Then he sat down beside her, talking softly, letting her know she wasn’t alone anymore.
“She didn’t have anyone,” he later said. “So I decided to be that person.”
