🎯 MAALINTII 3AAD
Waxaan maanta ku soo gabagabeynay aqoon-is-weydaarsigii ku saabsanaa Sinaanta Jinsiga ee Warbaahinta, oo ay si wadajir ah u qabanayaan
Somali Women Journalists Organization-SWJO
iyo IMS (International Media Support)
Mawduuca maanta wuxuu diiradda saarayay sida dhaqanka shaqo ee gudaha warbaahinta, habka loo qeybsado shaqooyinka, iyo mudnaanta la siiyo wararka muujinaya sinnaan.

Waxa kale oo la falanqeeyay sida dhaqamada bulshada iyo caadooyinka warbaahintu ay u sameeyeen aragtida ah in haweenku aysan qaban karin shaqooyin “culus.” Balse, isbedel waa suuragal — wuxuuna ka bilaabmaa go'aamada maalinlaha ah ee suxufiyiinta iyo abuurayaasha barnaamijyada.
Mahadsanid dhammaan 28-ka suxufi ee ka qayb galay, si furanna uga dooday arrimahan 3-dii maalmood ee lasoo dhaafay.

🎯 DAY 3 – WRAPPING UP INSTITUTIONAL REFLECTION
Today we concluded the final day of our workshop on Enhancing Gender Balance in Media Content, organized by SWJO in partnership with IMS.
The focus was on institutional change — how newsroom culture, assignment routines, and content priorities impact women’s roles in Somali media.
In a media environment driven by breaking news and Facebook shares, participants reflected on the challenges women face in taking on field reporting, producing original stories, and moving beyond studio-based roles.

We also explored how long-standing social norms and newsroom habits have shaped expectations about what women can or should do. But change is possible — and it begins with everyday decisions made by reporters, producers, and content creators.
Thank you to all 28 participants who engaged openly and critically throughout the past three days. The journey toward inclusive journalism continues — one newsroom at a time.

🛠 DAY 2 – INCLUSIVE TOOLS FOR INCLUSIVE JOURNALISM
Today, 28 Somali journalists — reporters, producers, news anchors, and content creators — gathered again in Mogadishu for the second day of our workshop on Enhancing Gender Balance in Media Content, organized by Somali Women Journalists Organization-SWJO in partnership with IMS (International Media Support)
Participants explored practical tools for inclusive sourcing, gender-aware storytelling, and editorial decision-making — equipping them to challenge bias and reflect the full diversity of Somali society.

The conversations were dynamic, the exercises hands-on, and the commitment clear: inclusive journalism is not just a goal — it’s a daily practice.

🎙️Maanta, SWJO oo kaashanaysa IMS (International Media Support) waxay si wadajir ah u bilaabeen wajiga labaad ee aqoon-is-weydaarsiga ku saabsan Sida loo Hagaajiyo Sinaanta Xogta Jinsiga ee Warbaahinta Soomaaliyeed — iyadoo markan diiradda la saarayo codadka si toos ah u saameeya waxa bulshada maalin kasta maqasho oo daawato: wariyeyaasha, soo-saareyaasha, akhriyeyaasha wararka, iyo abuurayaasha barnaamijyada.

Maalinta koowaad waxa aan ka hadalnay fahamka fikirka jinsiga, doorka warbaahinta ee kobcinta sinnaan la'aanta, iyo sida aan u cabbiri karno ka qaybgalka ragga iyo dumarka ee wararka, sheekooyinka, iyo codadka barnaamijyada.
Berri waxaan u gudbi doonaa xeelado wax ku ool ah oo lagu horumarinayo xulashada ilaha wararka, sheeko sheegidda sinnaan ku dhisan, iyo siyaasadaha tafatirka.

SWJO supports the development of a balanced national social media policy for Somalia.
We were pleased to participate in today’s consultative meeting organized by the Ministry of Information to help shape Somalia’s first national policy on social media. The rise of fake news, hate speech, misinformation, and online abuse poses serious challenges to public trust, safety, and democratic dialogue. These issues require clear, inclusive, and enforceable solutions.

However, as we work toward regulation, it is vital that freedom of expression remains at the heart of any policy we create. A safe digital space should never come at the cost of silencing legitimate voices.
SWJO remains committed to advocating for a media environment that is responsible, rights-based, and guided by both national context and global standards.
