The chairperson of the Northern Bahr el Ghazal (NBG) Youth Union has visited Aweil traders in Jonglei State who were reportedly attacked last week.
The visit was in response to rumors circulating on social media about Aweil youth being attacked in Bor market and having their goods and cash looted.
Atem Garang Atem, the NBG Youth Union chairman, told Akol Yam FM that he visited the area to meet with local authorities and the victims.
According to Atem, the perpetrators stole approximately $7,300 USD and 39,348,000 South Sudanese Pounds.
He says there have been no arrests since the incident happened.
“I met with the concerned authorities, including the town mayor and youth leaders, as well as representatives from Bahr el Ghazal and Aweil community leaders in Bor. I told them three things must be done, the culprits must be brought to justice, there must be compensation for the losses, and the security of these people must be under their responsibility”
Atem urged the public to remain calm, stating that authorities are pursuing the case with the town mayor of Jonglei State.
Akol Yam FM was unable to reach the Jonglei State government for immediate comment.

A 42-year-old man has died from severe malaria Nyamlel County Hospital in Aweil West County Northern Bahr el Ghazal State after being delayed at home for two days
According to Lual Khamis Lual, the hospital's deputy director, the patient was brought to the facility with signs of severe malaria and passed away just two hours after being admitted.
After conducting tests, Lual said they found ulcers, typhoid, and severe malaria.
Quote” The person spent two days at home before being brought to the hospital. Upon our assessment and testing, we found ulcers, typhoid, and severe malaria. We tried our best to admit him, but unfortunately, he passed away within two hours”
Lual urged residents to take patients to a health facility as soon as they fall ill, as delays can lead to serious health complications and a higher risk of death.

Given that most areas are far from health facilities, what is the best way to ensure early treatment?
