Tonj South authority arrest gangs behind the attempts r**e of 80-year-old elderly woman

Tonj security arrested gangs who attempted to r**e the 80-year-old elderly woman last night in Adiya near the house of Deng Nhial residence. In that tragic incident, the criminals burn part of the woman's body and also cut her hand before the security forces intervene.

BREAKING NEWS: Director General of the Unity State's Ministry of Health suspended the health services in Panyijiar.

The DG, Director General for the State Ministry of Health John Mut Bol who doubled as a Acting Minister of Health has yesterday the 4th of July 2025 suspended the health services for Panyijiar County following the rejection of the new County Health Director appointed by the governor of Unity State and later rejected by the Panyijiar County commissioner.

John Mut, the Director General of Ministry Health, Unity State, called on Humanitarian Agencies working in Panyijiar to stop all health services across the county until further investigation. Mut added that health partners, including WHO, UNICEF, IRC, and the rest, to evacuate to Juba or come to the capital Bentiu if those authorities don't allow the new CHD to work officially.

Police have launched a seven-day operation targeting criminal gangs in Juba, following the recent gang r**e of a 16-year-old girl in the Sherikat suburb.

The operation was launched on Monday by the Deputy Minister of Interior and the Inspector General of Police. It will involve targeted searches and investigations in areas identified as crime hotspots.

Police spokesperson Maj. Gen. James Monday Enoka said the crackdown aims to dismantle unruly groups and restore public safety.

Meanwhile, police are searching for an eighth suspect believed to be connected to the r**e. Seven suspects are currently in detention and awaiting trial.
