“For the Mother of Al-Fasher”
(In memory of a woman and her children lost to war)

In the dust of Al-Fasher, the wind still weeps,
Over fields where silence forever sleeps.
A mother once held her children near,
Her arms their refuge, her heart their sphere.

No roof, no wall, no shield but love,
Her prayers rose softly to God above.
Yet thunder answered—cold and cruel,
War’s fire swallowing heart and soul.

Her eyes, two wells of endless grace,
Reflected hunger, loss, and faith.
She bore the pain the world ignored,
A quiet saint, unnamed, adored.

Her little ones, with eyes so wide,
Dreamt of dawns where guns subside.
But dawn did not return that day,
The sky turned red, then dimmed to gray.

Now time will whisper her name in sand,
A mother’s strength, a broken land.
Though bullets stole her final breath,
They could not conquer love—or death.

So rest, dear mother, rest in peace,
Your children sleep where wars will cease.
In heaven’s field, where angels roam,
You’ve found your light, your endless home.

their love will outlive the flames of war.
