PRESS STATEMENT
OFFICE OF TONJ ARTISTS UNION – JUBA

The Office of Tonj Artists Union in Juba strongly condemns the unlawful arrest of music producer and artist Proper S. Ajiing Akuol, allegedly carried out by Machar Kon Machar, commonly known as Machar Benyhok, today at approximately 5:30 PM.

According to the information received by the Union, Proper S. Ajiing Akuol was forcefully taken to an unknown location without due legal procedure. The Union further condemns the reported unlawful pursuit and intimidation of Chol Kabiir, Liwa, and Chol Big Rank.

The Tonj Artists Union expresses serious concern over the safety, security, and rights of artists and creative professionals. No individual should be subjected to arbitrary arrest, intimidation, or harassment outside the lawful procedures established under the laws of the Republic of South Sudan.

The Union therefore calls upon:

1. The relevant security authorities to urgently establish the whereabouts and condition of Proper S. Ajiing Akuol.
2. The immediate respect for the constitutional rights and freedoms of all artists and citizens.
3. All parties involved to refrain from actions that may escalate tensions within the artistic community.
4. The competent authorities to ensure that any grievances or disputes are handled strictly through lawful and peaceful means.
4. We demand for the immediate release of Proper A.

The Office of Tonj Artists Union remains committed to protecting the dignity, freedom, and welfare of artists and calls for calm, justice, and adherence to the rule of law.

Subject: Request for Proper Storage and Management of Research Theses at the University

Dear academic Deans and Registrars,

I am writing to respectfully express concern regarding the recent disposal of several research theses within the university. Research theses represent valuable academic contributions, intellectual property, and institutional knowledge that should be preserved for future reference, learning, and research development.

The loss or disposal of these documents negatively affects students, researchers, lecturers, and the academic reputation of the university. Theses often contain original findings, data, and recommendations that can support future studies and national development.

In light of this concern, I kindly request the university administration to consider the following measures:

1. Establish a secure and organized archive for all approved research theses.
2. Digitize theses and create an electronic repository for long-term preservation and easy access.
3. Develop clear policies regarding the storage, handling, and disposal of academic research materials.
4. Ensure that no thesis is disposed of without proper review and authorization.
5. Encourage the use of preserved theses as reference materials for students and faculty members.

Proper preservation and management of research work will strengthen academic standards, promote continuity in research, and protect the intellectual efforts of students and staff.

I trust that the university administration will give this matter the attention it deserves and take appropriate action to safeguard future academic research materials.

SUMMARY OF PRESIDENTIAL DECREES!

President Salva Kiir Mayardit has issued a series of Republican decrees announced this evening on the state-owned South Sudan Broadcasting Corporation (SSBC), effecting key changes in government positions.

The decrees are as follows:

1. Salvatore Garang Mabiordit has been relieved of his duties as Minister of Finance and Planning and replaced by Kuol Daniel Ayulo.

2. Julius Tabuley Daniel has been dismissed as Deputy Minister of Public Service and Human Resources Development and replaced by Clement Juma Ongonae.

3. Santino Deng Wol has been removed as Undersecretary for Veteran Affairs in the Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs and replaced by Gen. Dr. Paul Nang Majok.

4. Gen. Dr. Paul Nang Majok has been relieved of his role as Chief of Defence Forces of the SSPDF and replaced by Gen. Santino Deng Wol.
