Money transfer manager robbed of SSP 27M at gunpoint in Warrap

Armed robbers took at least 27 million South Sudanese pounds at gunpoint from the manager of a Cyerdit Money Transfer branch in Ajak Kuac Payam, Twic County of Warrap State, on Monday.

Mariak Deng Majock, the Ajak Kuac Cyerdit branch manager, said three armed men with masked faces intercepted him along the Mayen Guot Juor–Mabek road around 2 PM.

"I was travelling from Ajak Kuac to bring supplies to Turalei. After I arrived on the road, three men came. The road was muddy, so I removed the carton full of money and put it down on the road because I wanted to cross the muddy section first,” Deng narrated.

“When I went back to bring the motorbike, they came to where the carton was. I asked them, ‘Why are you coming near the carton?’ Unfortunately, one man pointed a gun at me and drove me into the bush. He took my phones and released me later.”

Twic County police said they have yet to receive an official report regarding the incident.

Just in: South Sudan Releases 2024 Secondary School Exam Results

The South Sudan National Examinations Council has officially released the results of the 2024 Certificate of Secondary Education (CSE) exams, which were conducted from December 2 to 11, 2024. Officials apologized for the unprecedented delay in releasing the results and assured the public that new measures are being put in place to avoid similar delays in the future.

This year, a total of 50,004 students sat for the exams across 535 academic schools, with 29,353 males and 20,651 females registered. In addition, 130 students were registered in the Commercial Section at Juba Commercial Secondary School, while 197 were registered in the Technical Section at Juba Technical Secondary School.

Out of 48,079 candidates who attempted the exams, 36,701 students successfully passed, representing an overall pass rate of 76.3%. Among the successful candidates, 21,619 were male and 15,082 were female, marking a significant achievement for secondary education in the country.
