President Salva Kiir has dismissed and appointed 11 members of the Transitional National Legislative Assembly (TNLA) through a Republican Decree, affecting seats allocated to the opposition SPLM-IO led by Dr. Riek Machar.

According to the decrees issued on Monday night, those relieved of their positions include Joseph Malwal D**g, Kuong Dak Wie, Sandra Bona Malwal, Wieu Kun Kuiyang, Stephen Bol Ley, Hassan Zaid Kinnga, Zainab Khamis Lorumu, Gatkuoth Wat Joar, Pech Nyawele Bol, Zandia Julli Madit, and Jambiel Maani Jambiel.

In a separate Republican Order, President Kiir appointed new members to the legislature, including Elizabeth Kanyang Andrew, Nuer Diang, Buom Tai Gatluak, Zechariah Ater Joseph, Santino Riak Maker, Makuach Teny Youk, and Charles Wiyual Yoh, among others.

Mundari Cultural Festival 2026 Invites Media to Celebrate Peace and Heritage

The organizing committee of the 3rd Annual Mundari Cultural Festival has officially invited media houses to attend and cover the event, scheduled for January 16th to 18th, 2026, at the Terekeka Cultural Center. With the theme “Celebrating Mundari Culture to Promote Peaceful Coexistence in South Sudan,” the festival aims to showcase the rich traditions of the Mundari people while encouraging unity among South Sudan’s diverse communities. The opening ceremony will take place on January 16th at 9:00 AM, followed by three days of cultural exhibitions, performances, and community engagement.

Media representatives are encouraged to cover both the main festival and a pre-festival event happening from January 13th to 14th. The committee has arranged transportation, meals, and refreshments for all accredited press members to ensure smooth coverage. The festival’s motto, “Yi a Mundari! Yi a Ringit nu Jur,” reflects the community’s pride and commitment to peace through cultural identity and dialogue.

Bush Buse, Chairperson of the Mundari Cultural Festival 2026, emphasized the importance of media participation in amplifying the festival’s message of social cohesion.
