The Monetary Policy implementation is the role of the Bank of South Sudan, not the Minister of Finance and Planning.

The recent strengthening of the local currency SSP against the US Dollar is an effort from the Governor of the Central Bank of South Sudan. Whoever is praising the Minister of Finance and Planning, Hon. Marial Dengrin Ater has misplaced the credit.

The Bank of South Sudan is an independent institution, and therefore, it is not controlled or supervised by the Minister of Finance and Planning. The appreciation of the South Sudanese Pound is a strategy deployed by the Governor of the Central Bank, Dr Alic Garang. Let us hope the little progress will last long.
