SUBJECT: CONDEMNATION OF THE STATEMENT BY THE HON. COMMISSIONER OF TWIC EAST COUNTY
As the Commissioner of Duk County, I write to formally express our strong condemnation of the statement released by the Hon. Commissioner of Twic East County, which wrongly associates Hol youths with SPLM-IO activities.
We are deeply concerned by these allegations, as they risk creating unnecessary tension and misunderstanding between our communities. We wish to assure the Government of Jonglei State and the general public that Hol youths are not affiliated with SPLM-IO or any armed opposition movement.
The individuals responsible for attacks in the island territories are criminal elements acting independently and should not be linked to the broader Hol community or its youth. It is both unfair and misleading to attribute the actions of a few individuals to an entire community or to portray them as politically motivated without credible evidence.
We call upon all leaders to exercise responsibility and restraint in their public statements, especially on sensitive security matters. Maintaining peace, unity, and mutual trust among the people of Jonglei State requires accurate information and constructive engagement rather than unverified accusations.
The people of Duk County remain committed to peace, stability, and cooperation with neighboring counties and the Government of Jonglei State in addressing security challenges through lawful and peaceful means.
