This needle had been present since her infancy. Local health officials reported that her parents likely tried to end her life using a method that left no visible evidence.

The needle was inserted into her soft fontanel—the vulnerable area on a baby’s skull—but, remarkably, she survived. It became embedded in her left parietal lobe and went unnoticed throughout her life.

Despite the surprising finding, medical professionals confirmed that the woman has never suffered from headaches or other neurological issues. Due to the risks of surgery, her health team has decided to leave the needle in place and will monitor her condition closely.
