Bor County Commissioner Calls for Calm Following Isolated Incidents on Saturday
BOR – September 27, 2025 – The Commissioner of Bor County, Hon. Samuel Ateny Pech Ariik, is appealing for calm among the residents of Bor County following two separate security incidents that occurred earlier today, Saturday, September 27, 2025.
The Commissioner confirmed that during a wrestling match event in Bor, a violent altercation took place between an individual from the Nyara community and an individual from the Pariak community of Bor County. Tragically, one person was confirmed killed as a result of this fight.
"This is an isolated incident, and the cause of the fighting is currently being investigated by the police," said Commissioner Ateny Pech Ariik. "We urge the Nyara and Pariak communities to remain peaceful and allow the rule of law to take its course."
In a separate incident on the same day, a convoy transporting government officials who were returning from the wrestling match event was attacked by a suspected local armed group known as the Red Belt. The officials' security detail, composed of Members of the National Security Service, engaged the attackers.
"Information regarding any casualties from the engagement is still being gathered and will be shared with the public once credible details are confirmed," the Commissioner stated.
He emphasized that despite these incidents, the overall security situation in Bor County is currently calm while suspectedatatckers are being persued.
All participants from Lakes State who attended the wrestling event have reportedly returned safely.
The Commissioner also noted that the well-attended wrestling match between Bor County and Yirol East County of Lakes State concluded successfully in favor of Bor County prior to the unfortunate incidents.
The Office of the Commissioner strongly condemns the violence and assures the public that all necessary measures are being taken to maintain peace and security.
